Whispers

Few dare brave the steep mountains cloaked in snow, yet many will attest to hearing voices echo from the very summit. Mistery and myth spin pretty tales of ghosts and ancestors and things untold, with just enough truth to them to keep intruders at bay. Those haunting whispers are mere howls echoing through the harsh winds, coordinated calls and commands that permit movement through harsh blizzards and salvation to those in dire need. Somewhere down the line, the mountain had become a place of refuge. What had once been a small pack grew strengthened by the unwanted, by the sick and the weak, the pups abandoned to cold snows and the wolves banished from their very homes. The Whispers now proudly don the name they've been bestowed, all too content to keep harm at bay so that they may shelter those who fill their ranks.


By chance or circumstance, you braved the mountain and came face to face with one of these wolves. He is small and unimpressive at a glance but he greets you with kind words and gentle mannerisms, none of which you'd expect to find in a rogue. It occurs to you soon that he is not alone. You've stumbled onto a hunting party and many eyes gleam hidden within the foliage, waiting for some sign from the runt. At last, he asks you to make your intentions known.
