Lullaby Dogs

Stories of wolves are notoriously ominous, but the people of Tybor are often confused by tales such as these. Their own account of wild canines is much more along the lines of a fairytale: seldom-seen figures and eyes that pierce the fog and mist, guiding lost wanderers through the dangerous mountain cliffs instead of devouring them. There have been no reports of attacks on humans since the village's inception; and though many people have claimed to see these wolves, no hunter has ever been able to track or hunt even a pup. The only hard evidence for their existence are the famously melodic howls that roll into the village occasionally. Skeptics call this wind, and refer to the mountain range as the "Singing Hills," but still others believe in a pack of strangely kind wolves they've named the "Lullaby Dogs." This name was coined by generations of mothers who realized that distressed children were quickly calmed by the songs of the mountains when they happened to hear them; thus, toys and mobiles in the likeness of ethereal wolves are frequent gifts among the superstitious families of the village.
