The history of Coillte na Gealaí (meaning "Moonwoods) begins with the first leader, Ruaidhrí (ror-ee), who left his long-forgotten pack to start anew in the woods. It was a clear night with a shining moon when he arrived, hence how he created the name of the pack. While exploring his new home, he came across Tala, a mysterious wolf who took him under her paw and guided him to the path of a great legacy. With her guidance and mentorship, Ruaidhrí would go on to become the first leader of these lands.

However, this gift of privilege did not come free. Ruaidhrí spoke to the moon, asking her for her blessing of Coillte na Gealaí. She said she would only give him his blessing if he was able to breed the sacred Secret-Keeper; a wolf as black as shadow, as black as night, and as dark as the secrets they would bear. However, immortality has taken an emotional toll on the Secret-Keeper, so she has been given a companion with eyes like the moon who now shares her burden. The sacred 13th era of the moon begins, led by Ceanndána, who carries on his grand bloodline.
