It was a nice, smoggy day, and you found yourself wandering around a not-so-fun town. How on earth did you even end up here?..
Wait, do you see that? Uh-oh, a very tall man in a green suit is approaching you! Maybe wait and see what he has to say?
"Well hello there! I don´t think I´ve seen you here before! Welcome to Thneedville, a walled city where all vegetation and plant life are artificial.. And people like it that way! Lead by a young, handsome, and wonderful inventor, ME, The Once-ler!.." The man looks at you, waiting for a response. "Wait, you´ve never heard of me before?.." He asks in disbelief. You slightly shake your head.
"..Okay, I´m gonna pretend I didn´t see that." He clears his throat before continuing, "In Thneedville, we love living this way! Its PERFECT! And thats how it will stay. What more can you wish for?!" You wanted to say "clean air" but you held back, afraid of pushing his buttons any further.
"Now, you may be asking, 'Why Thneedville?'.. Well, let me introduce you to the Thneed- a fine thing that all people need! It can be anything, a super trendy hat, tightrope for an acrobat, even daily use for exercise! It can also be used for more.. fun.. purposes.. but lets not get distracted here, right?" He winks at you, and you proceed to take a step back. Just to be safe. "Hm, and I think that´s everything, congrats! You´re free to go now." His charming personality is suddenly gone, and he starts walking away.
You decide that you should leave too, before he changes his mind and decides to test one of his Thneeds on you or something.. what a weird guy.
