MOONJEWEL PACK
It's a cool, windy night. Flowers are cast upon the still body of the previous leader, Dawnblaze. Her orange fur rustles softly in the gentle night breeze as the young successor sits next to her, watching silently in vigil, her ears laid back in grief. The herbalist — Hiccup — sprinkles the seeds of a plant unfamiliar to Cinnamon as part of the pack's tradition to send a wolf off on their last journey.
"Astrantia," he announces softly, "for protection, strength, and courage. May our late leader's spirit watch over us always."
All the wolves in the pack step up pay their respects, then slowly fall into a line, waiting for one last wolf to pay her respects. Cinnamon stands, dipping her head to push her nose into the orange fur of her mentor, her leader. She stays like that for a few minutes, then whispers a quiet promise to take care of the pack, to lead with the pack's best interests at heart.
It is time for a new beginning.
