Skernnis Hills Pack
General Information
Skernnis Hills, home to order and discipline. Harsh winters and violent summers shape the very essence of the packs being, leaving no room for incompetence.
Pack founder, Tunk, is a survivor from her previous packs disbandment. Tunk and her sister Hemp swore to create a pack in which they could form safety and clean measures to keep order and pack integrity. Where they came from was a place of death, having watched previous pack mates starve and succumb to wounds that had no time to heal. Tunk swore the moment she was old enough to leave the plains of death that her pack would never falter to such chaos.
From the day she stepped foot upon the arduous but glorious cliff side, she knew the point of no return had been reached. Tunk and Hemp, the two survivors from a starved and overwhelmed pack, will make a mark in the realm that nobody will ever forget.
Alpha
The Alphas job is to provide and take care of the pack. this includes making difficult decisions. The Alpha is preferred to be female within Skernnis Hills, due to the pack's heritage and founders. Their belief follows the idea that maternal wolves are essential to the pack. Only a mother's love can bring the best out in each and every member, and only the true fear a mother can feel, the intensity and anger, can keep them safe. The pack will not turn down male Alphas, but the male must prove to be able to provide like a mother would for their pups. Selfless and completely devoted, if the wolf is not under this impression then there is no debating the position, they simply will not obtain it.
An Alpha can only be claimed after the retirement or death of the previous Alpha. The new Alpha is chosen from the highest ranks between lower-ranking packmates if the Beta has also passed. Beta is usually next in line to be Alpha. Additionally, if the pack feels the Alpha has been misguiding them, an uprising can occur. This uprising may result in demotion, exile or even slaughter. This is important for the integrity of the pack.
Beta
Betas are generally needed as the voice of reason. Future Alphas, they are also expected to be maternal, mature and caring. Due to the nature of their rank, however, they are generally able to uphold another pack duty. They most commonly take up a scouting role, exploring for their pack, providing. Hunting is also common.
Betas can be demoted if the Alpha feels they are not living up to what is needed for the pack. Betas fluctuate in position, and the role is sought after by all pack members due to its significance.
A Beta may be retired or demoted down a level if they choose they no longer meet the standards set for themselves, or if the pack votes them down. they must handle the demotion with grace and diligence, providing a highly mature example. A failure to fall with grace is nothing short of admitted incompetence, and will result in them taking the brunt of all pack duties, or possibly even exile. Their job is noble, and they must respect both their own decisions as well as the pack's decision.
