The group has a heightened connection to birds compared to outsiders. They often have a bird companion choose them at a relatively young age; these birds stay with their chosen wolf for life. Even the eldest members of the pack do not know why this occurs, but their connection to aves has been one that has stuck since the pack's foundation. This is why many wolves carry bird-related names, though some carry names of ancient deities as well.

This group focuses on trade and highly values items like feathers and bird bones. Their bird companions are treasured and are extremely respected within their group -- if one's companion is killed, it is an extremely bad omen for what fate has for that wolf. Even though that is a rare scenario, the wolf is not outcasted, rather, they are supported through thick and thin. For that is what the Loftwings are -- a flock that values every individual, no matter what.
