Moriah
1 adolescent wolf in this pack may leave at the next rollover due to overcrowding!
Welcome to Solyma
Sunlight filters through the oaks and pines growing on the side of the mountain, dappling the well-worn path you follow. A wolf howls in the distance, possibly part of the pack that made this path, and a response echoes back through the woods. The path leads you to a small clearing with a burbling brook twisting its way through the rocky, moss-covered ground.
"Hello, stranger." A friendly voice calls from the left, downwind and just out of your line of sight. You turn and find a strange black male wearing a black cloak and a raven feather hood with purple glowing eyes watching you curiously from just inside the tree line. "Where have you travelled from?" The male asks calmly as he strides towards you. "You're not from around here, your scent tells me as much." The male continues his inspection of you peering deeply into your face, your eyes, your soul. It sends a shiver down your spine such that you hardly notice a second male approaching. "I don't think you will cause us harm, though what is to be can rarely be seen clearly." "That's enough, Methuselah," a new, male voice commands.
The male, Methuselah, dips his head politely to the newcomer and backs off slightly, moving to stand at the shoulder of the new black, blue-tinged male wearing a golden torc. His ice eyes observe you carefully, intently, assessing you for any threat of harm. Finally, with a cautious look of satisfaction on his face, he nods his head in greeting. "Greetings, traveller," the male's soft voice rich, "My name is Risnuch. Welcome to the territory of Solyma, home of the Moriah. You must be tired after a long journey and... an even longer conversation," Risnuch says with a look at Methuselah who gives a near imperceptible shrug while keeping his now, slightly uncomfortable gaze on you. "My pack has a place where travellers, such as yourself, can find rest," Risnuch says, "Follow me if you'd like."
Risnuch turns, leaving Methuselah in the clearing, the strange black wolf's eyes seeming to burn holes in your pelt now, and leads you through the underbrush upstream of the burbling brook that runs down the mountain. The mix of pine, maple and oak trees grows thicker as your companion leads you on and you are grateful for the relief the foliage gives you from Methuselah's penetrating gaze. Light from above still breaks through the branches, dappling the ground and glinting off of the male's torc. After a short while, the scent of other wolves grows stronger, but it's hard to tell how close they are with the tall ferns blocking the view beyond the winding path. You can also pick out the sound of rushing water and the scent of wet stone coming from ahead.
As the scents and sounds grow stronger, Risnuch pauses and looks at you a moment, a seeming final assessment, before saying, "We're here." He pushes through the last few leaves into a clearing. The scents and sounds of pack life hit you. Pups yip and chase each other through the clearing, and adolescents tussle with each other or follow some of the adults as they go about their daily tasks. Others, of all ages, gather at the edge of a pool fed by a small series of waterfalls strengthening pack bonds, enjoying a fresh catch or dozing in the sun.
As you observe the Moriahs a pale blue wolf makes her way over to you. Her white eyes seem to search you as she pads towards you, her paws leaving a trail of lunar dust behind them that slowly dissipates. She is adorned with crystalized lunar orbs and around her neck hangs a silver lunula, identifying her as a pack leader. As she stops before you the orbs pulse for a moment and then still. You meet the she-wolf's eyes. It almost seemed like they were glowing, if only for an instant, but the she-wolf blinks and you find her eyes to be the same clear white as they've always been.
"Celeana," Risnuch begins, "Allow me to introduce a traveller who has come to rest a while with us." "Welcome, traveller," the she-wolf says. "As Risnuch said, I am Celeana, the Alpha of the Moriah. I'm glad my mate," Celeana gestures to Risnuch, "was there to guide you here. We very much enjoy having visitors. Perhaps, if you are going to be with us for a while, you would do us the honour of sharing a story or two from your travels or your pack. My pack loves to hear about other places and other packs. Please, enjoy your stay." Celeana nods her farewell before making her way around the clearing to where a hunting party had just arrived. "If you need anything, please ask me or send a Moriah to find me for you. And as Celeana said, 'enjoy your stay,'" Risnuch finishes as he trots off to greet a group of pups by the pool and leaves you to explore the Moriah's clearing and rest from your travels.

About the Moriahs
The Moriahs live on Mount Solyma (Σόλυμα/שָׁלֵם), "the place of peace", and in the foothills of the Moriah (Μώριας/מוריה) mountain range. Their name, coming from the mountain range they live in, means both "lives in the hill country" and "Yahweh is my teacher". The pack trusts in Yahweh, the Creator and Redeemer of all things. Yahweh has blessed them with gifts both physical and spiritual for the good of their pack and the good of those whom the Moriah come across in their travels. As such, they seek to share their blessings with others as they follow the statutes that Yahweh has given them.
