Shpresa

Named after my friend Hope, who, though blind, inspired me in more ways than one.

She already knew who was there way before they even reached the nursery, but she kept silent. She was cirious about the new scent, a pup she did not know. "Shpresa, it's me, Alpha Pirko. I would like to introduce you to my good friend Pauk." She heard odd shuffling sounds of s strange pup. By scent Shpresa could tell this strange pup was female. They kind of smelled like dried leaves and dirt as well. "hello Shpresa" says Pauk, "I've been looking forward to meeting you. I've been in this pack since the first leader, alpha Mable, was here." Shepresa was surprised, this was just a pup, no older than her, how could she have been here since Alpha Mable. "How?" she simply said. "I was made immortal. The pack knew I wouldnt live for very long due to my disability." Pauk replied. Shpresa was quiet for a long time before she spoke, "but, that sounds so lonely. Arent you afraid to make friends? everyone will die and you wont." Pauk was surprised, Shpresa could smell it. "I-Im sorry-" Shpresa replied quickly. "no, its alright, I used to always think the same thing, but I learned that I can help the pack way more, I can teach them. I have befriended every leader this pack has ever had and i continue to guide all the wolves here. Now, im going to ask you a question that might be very hard... Would you like to join me?"

It's been a month since Pauk has asked Shpresa to join her in immortality. She still wasn't sure, she wanted to live a full life but she also wanted to help Pauk. But she has finally made her decision. Her puppysitter guided her to Pauk and Alpha Pirko, who were almost always together. "Have you decided?" Pauk asked, a glimmer of hope in her voice. "Yes…" Shpresa replied, "I'm sorry Pauk, I want to live a normal life…" she hesitated, feeling the sadness coming off of her, "but I will join you in helping to lead the wolves of the pack. I have decided to stay mortal, but, since my sense of smell is stronger than most wolves, I have decided to help you help others. I can smell when they are sick, or dying, and I can smell all of their emotions. I promise you that I will live as long as I can and that I will stay by your side for the rest of my life." Despite not having another immortal friend, Shpresa could feel the happiness as well coming off of Pauk. "Thank you, Shpresa, from now on I will be your eyes, from now to the day you die."
From then on, Shpresa has moved out of the nursery and away from her puppysitter, and lives in the high rank den with Pauk. She spends most of her time with Pauk, helping the other wolves and their alpha. Pauk found a dog who was willing to guide Shpresa whenever she left the camp of the pack, and she has found a new love for exploring in the mountains.
