The Seeker

As Windkin was walking by the Enclave one day, he started looking at the pups. Usually he ignored them as it was too difficult to contemplate leaving all the cute faces behind. However this time he felt a twinge in his shoulder from an old bear attack and knew that the cold was starting to settle into his bones. Where once he had been young and strong, unable to imagine what Strider had experienced in his old age, now he realized the same chill winds were starting to frost his head and muzzle. He looked harder.

Finally, after searching through the packs of pups under the bear's watchful gaze, he found the right one. Markings were off, pelt color was strange, but the boycub bore the Blaze - eternal mark of the Pack - as well as intelligence in his eyes and strength in his limbs.

He paid the silver cones and gently took the boy back to Aurora.

Later, even when Seeker himself realized he was not the best candidate to be leader, he was retained as a scout and wise one for the rest of the pack.
