Royals
The royals (also known as lead wolves and heirs) are the enforcers of the laws and handle pack matters. They handle the disputes, punishments, and rewards, and impose rules on the rest of the pack members. They are the highest level you can get but not many succeed. Betas typically aren't found within this pack. For a lead wolf or heir to step down from being said role, then they will be treated as still an alpha/heir but will not hold the official title nor the responsibilities. This role is only allowed to have strictly female lead wolves/heirs with no exception if it is found out one of them has lied about gender. They will be put to death instantly.
Seekers
Seekers are the eyes and ears of the lead wolves and work closely to ensure that there are no uprisings within the pack or any outspoken males that try to challenge the way of life. If there are then they will instantly be reported and will have a "trial" but the only two outcomes are confessions or death. If a confession happens the wolf will be demoted to Nonman or banished from the pack entirely. No one knows who the seekers are other than the lead wolves, heirs, and royals.
Herbalist
The herbalist is the healer of the pack which means they work closely with the wolves of lower ranks and the wolves of higher ranks. In the Sunset Claws, herbalists are believed to be touched by their god the Sun Wolf to heal. These wolves are allowed to travel inside and outside of the pack territory as long as they let the lead wolf know beforehand, otherwise it would be counted as abandonment. If they are seen after abandonment, the pack is allowed to do whatever they please with the wolf. This role is either held by females or feminine males, no matter the gender if they leave their pack territory without permission from the lead wolf, it will be considered abandonment.
Pupsitter
Pupsitters are extremely important to the pack as they protect the young and future generations, although sometimes if the safety of the pups isn't worried about there will not be an assigned pupsitter. They are still required to watch over the young in a single den but will stop watching them once they become adolescents. These wolves aren't allowed to leave the pack territory unless to follow a pup to where they run off, if they are found to have left a litter or any pups alone for an extended amount of time then depending on the gender they will be instantly demoted to Nonman or they will be left off for at least one rollover.
Guards
Guards do exactly what the name is, they guard to pack territory from enemy packs and rogues. These wolves are pretty high valued and regularly checked on by the lead wolf, although they aren't as high on the hierarchy they are still extremely well respected. The only wolves allowed to hold this position are females under no circumstances will a male be a guard as they could potentially start leaking information about the world outside the pack. If any guard is found leaking information to the lower class wolves, they have a trial to determine what their intentions were. If it was found they wanted to cause an uprising, there will be a public execution, and the only wolves excused from watching are pups.
Hunters
Hunters are fundamental for the pack to survive but the workload for the hunts is taxing on the body, some of the wolves who do this role either chose to do them as they want to serve their community, they were past nonmen that prove themselves useful, or they were put into the role by the lead wolf. The male wolves that decide to leave the hunters will either become nonman again or they will be banished. The female wolves that decide to leave the hunters will become scouts. Unless they are proven to be trustworthy, then they have the option to become guards or seekers.
Scouts
Scouts are either born in this role or they are here to serve a punishment that was not of a too serious offense like stealing rations, sleeping in another den that you aren't assigned to. There are a few rare occasions where wolves choose to be a scout. Although they seem to have the most freedom out of the wolves underneath the royals, they have the more strict rules assigned to them. They are only permitted to leave the territory when the lead royal is awake and must leave behind the most valuable item that they can not live without, some wolves have brought things with tears in their eyes. If a scout leaves without permission, they will be beaten half to death and then thrown out into the wilderness with nothing but themselves and if they dare try to return to the pack, they will be killed on sight.
Nonman
Nonmen are the worst of the worst. They have no rights, they can not hold leading roles like herbalist, pupsitter, or royal nor do they get any say in what happens within pack matters. Those who are given this title will be treated as an outcast of their society. They do more of the manual labor such as if hunters bring in huge prey, they must help carry them in, whenever herbalists want to test out a new medicine they will be a test subject are two examples. These wolves only get enough food to where they survive and are forced to listen to the rest of the pack. Some die due to exhaustion and some try to run, those who run always end up dead. These wolves are not seen as wolves, more like toys or machines. They must do whatever is asked of them at any given time no matter the circumstances or the punishment may be 100x worse than when any other roles do the same thing.
