Old Lore:

SpoilerGrizzly, originally simply called Bear, is the founder of the Wandering Stars pack. Starting out in the Grasslands, the canine went through quite a few months of meeting others who just turned out to be not the right fit. Eventually, he came across two wolves that would stick with him for the rest of their time; Oxnose and Honeygaze. They were both older, more experienced than Grizzly, and wanted company. Oxnose would be their herbalist and Honeygaze their scout. They wandered together, picking up wayward souls that craved the same sense of family the founders did. Honeygaze forged the path through many territories as the pack searched for a place to call home. For Grizzly, that home would be the Coniferous Forest, the farthest the leader got with his pack. There he met Redcape, a canine that would come to be his closest friend, a wolf he'd raise many adopted pups with, and hardly ever leave the side of.
They lived happily for a long time. When Redcape passed in the midst of winter, Grizzly became grief stricken. It wasn't long before the leader passed as well. Butterflies seemed to flock to him in his final days, earning him the title of the Butterfly Leader for the rest of this pack. He died just two months after his love, surrounded by those who cared about him. He named Smokestride to be his successor, who took the position graciously.
Smokestride has since migrated the pack to the glaciers, settling in the evergreen forest between the icy mountains and tundra territory. Now that the pack has grown so large, he's had to take strict organizational measures. The Royals are wolves with special traits, like Prince Soft Step who is deaf, or Fracture who is piebald. They also include roles like the Healer, Leaping Cliff, and the Scouts. Though those that are kept for their traits can work, they aren't forced to.
The nursery and it's queens are the next most important. Headed by sitter Mama, she looks after the pups of the pack. Other sitters have come and gone, but none as protective as her.
The hunters make up the majority of the pack, broken up into hunting parties which often sleep together. They make their home in undergrown burrows made when the pack first settled, to keep prey out of the freezing tempuratures and keep hunters from getting too cold. Though they make up most of the pack, the hunting parties rotate often, meaning they have just as much free time to socialize, explore, etc.
The field and the grove are reserved for canines with special features, but not special enough to earn a royal rank. The Teir III pelts, special eyes, low fertilities, etc. They are also encouraged to hunt or do other jobs, but are prioritized for breeding.

Toward the end of his life, Smoke became obsessed with breeding the perfect heir. This put strain on the pack, caused bad relationships to be formed, and resulted in poor quality of pups.
The pack itself decided that after Smoke retired they would choose and outsider to lead them, feeling the need for fresh ideas and a new soul.

New Lore:

After many moons of Mottled's rein, the pack finally got their sign that he was meant to be their leader. One early morning, while patrolling their border with the glaciers, Mottled and Blushing Biewter were trapped between a cliffside and a caribou herd. They startled and began stampeding, almost trampling both canines. Mottled was able to save the piebald wolf by grabbing him by the scruff and pinning him under his body to protect him, earning a few scars in the process. This is when he was blessed with his horns. Like the leader Smoke before him.



Pack Conventions:

Under Mottled Moonlight, after the Great Purge of the pack, these rules were set in place:

• Puppies take some part of the name of their parents +pup (EI if Smoke and Lord Silent Step make pups they might be named Steppup, Lordpup, and Smokepup.


• All pups earn a unique name as an adolescent


• Any wolf with a TIII base or visible mutation is named one word (Ex. Smoke, Moon, Owl)


• Special wolves, such as Scouts, Leader's mate, Royals, etc. may have a title in addition to their name. This may be a traditional title (Prince, Duke, Guard) or a verb title (Runner, Stalker, Questioner).
  
• Any wolf with TII base and any of the following will get a two word name: 400+ Stats, 5+ markings, mutation carrier,
  
• Any wolf not meeting those requirements are not to be kept

Descriptions should look like this:
Normal: Base (XX I/II/III) | Gender | Markings | Trait Emojis
Hunter: Base (XX I/II/III) | Gender | Markings | Personality | Trait Emojis

Notes should include: Traits they're being kept for, plans for the future, notes about pair bondings, role in the pack, etc.,
