When Nettlestar picked up the puppies from the enclave, there was an unusual wolf cub with white spots with them. For a long time she did not dare to give him a name, as later she began to suspect a bad omen.

Feathershine saved him from Nettlestar's wrath by taking him to her herb-scented cave, giving the cub a new name - Slatebreeze. However, after Slatebreeze grew up, Sasha could not take him as a healer, as she was not confident enough in the wolf.
