Biography
First leader of SwiftClan with a T* base!!
"Love is vulnerability, only the heartless survive."
Astralstar is a young, curious female wolf with a wiry build and long legs which ripple with muscle. Her pelt is silky and smooth, as if she has never seen the harsh moons of winter.
Together, she leads SwiftClan steadily and surely with her mate and deputy, Lithewhisper, beside her.
Before she led SwiftClan proudly, she never had a name, and had been called 'Wolf' by the Twopaws who "raised" her.
She has never been part of the pack of wolves that helped the Twopaws pull sleds, and instead had always been an outcast, snapped at by the other wolves.
Wolf had always lurked in the shadows, curious. When the Twopaws realised she posed no danger to their livestock or sled wolves, they had been kind to her. When she sat down and whined, looking pleadingly at them, they'd always toss a generous piece of meat in her direction.
Sometimes, when Wolf was in a good mood, she'd let them pet her.
But her good life did not last long. The Twopaws had been brought away by other Twopaws clad in white pelts, into a monster with blinking red and blue lights that hurt Wolf's eyes. The sled wolves that they owned had been taken away by other Twopaws, and were never seen again.
When the Twopaws that had captured the other wolves saw Wolf, they began yelping with excited noises and brought out a box covered with a wire mesh. Fearing for her safety, Wolf had fled into the pine forest and left her whole life behind.
There, she searched desperately for food. As she had never hunted before, finding prey was hard and she soon grew haggard and malnourished.
Wolf thought this was the end of her. She thought her life was over before it even begun. She had not enjoyed the feeling of living in the wild, as a true wolf.
But when all hope seemed to be lost, something magical happened. One special night, Wolf was growing closer to death and was hanging on by her claws. Though she felt the air around her grow much colder. As she struggled out of unconsciousness, she opened her eyes and saw something she had not thought was possible.
A tall, broad shouldered wolf with a sleek, black and beige pelt that rippled with muscles was standing before her. But there was something strange about him. His pelt was emitting a soft light and glittering with stars. What's more, Wolf could see the cave wall through his fur.
"You're Wolf, right?" His voice rang out with a deep throaty rumble. Wolf could barely raise her head to reply, but managed to muster a small nod. There was something about him—something that made her feel that he was someone important.
The wolf dipped his head. "It's a pleasure," he murmured. "I am Swiftstar, the first leader of SwiftClan." Wolf had not understood him then, and could only listen. Patiently, Swiftstar had explained the clans and the Warrior Code to her, and finally, StarClan. "The reason I'm telling you this, is because one day you will be leading these wolves," he growled, his tone serious. "You are destined for something great, Wolf. But only if you wish to be." With a nod, Swiftstar asked, "Do you wish to lead the wolves of SwiftClan?"
Wolf could hardly believe her ears. A leader? Of one of these great clans this wolf had told her about? Apparently her life was not over! She was still destined for something great, a chance to make a pawprint. Eagerly, she accepted.
With a soft smile, Swiftstar dipped his head. "Then welcome to StarClan, my fellow leader," he grinned. "It's time for you to receive your warrior name and nine lives."
SwiftClan has been divided ever since Winterstar's death. The young wolf had led them well, but a nearby river had flooded their camp one awful night. Many wolves had drowned, Winterstar being one of them. All his nine lives had been stripped away beneath the churning waves. He had died at a young age, leaving his clan confused and helpless, without the guidance of a leader.
What was left of SwiftClan—Ravendark, an elder, who had lived through the reign of their first leader, Swiftstar and Winterstar, was found, huddled in a disused badger cave, his mangy pelt hanging like rags over his haggard frame, ribs protruding from his chest. A storm had been raging for days after their camp had flooded, and prey had been scarce due to the floods. Without any food to eat, Ravendark had went in search of carrion, out of desperation. He eventually contracted a sickness from eating carrion, and was on the brink of death. Without a medicine wolf or anyone that could help him; and with his clan gone, he had given up and was ready to join his clanmates and leaders in StarClan.
But tonight was different. Ravendark thought he smelt a new scent—a scent he hadn't smelt for a while—the scent of a wolf. As he blinked open his eyes, too weak to lift his head, a young she-wolf was crouching in front of him, her wide eyes filled with curiosity. Beside him, a small she-wolf was tending to him, her pelt oddly covered with patches of black. "Lick this," she had instructed him, and pushed a pawful of chewed up herbs in front of his muzzle.
Ravendark had obeyed, for there was nothing else he could do.
"We'll take care of you," the she-wolf murmured. "I know you once were from SwiftClan, and it meant everything to you."
Shock coursed through Ravendark's body, and it lent him energy. He lifted his head. "How did you know?"
With a small smile, a knowing gaze twinkling in her eyes, the young she-wolf grinned. "My name is Astralstar. And I'm the next leader of SwiftClan."
