Biography
Began leading the StarFog pack after Luna's death, on October 11th, 2024. Rave is the youngest lead of the pack since Knoxx, the original alpha, himself.
Starting at Level 10 with her previous role being Scout, Rave's stats are as follows:
Strength 138
Speed 78
Agility 92
Wisdom 85
Smarts 114
Total 507
Lore:
Rave is a bad leader. She stepped into the role weak, young, and inexperienced. She is reasonably strong and smart. but lacks wisdom, arguably the most important quality for the role. She is stunning, beautiful, even; but she is new and weak after the passing of her father.
Her mother came and went, and her father, Novel, cared for her as along with the rest of the pack after her mom, Rayla, left. Novel's blood is why she has the role of lead; she was one of his last pups before he passed on into the Dreamlands.
Prior to his passing, Rave had been a scout, finding freedom from the pack while on her solo adventures. She enjoyed coming back and sharing the smells off her pelt, tales of what she saw, and sleeping in the Wind cave with all of her packmates, to go explore again when she awoke.
One day, Novel was waiting for her when she awoke with the sun. He invited her to walk with him, and led her to one of the snowy mountaintops to talk through the steady pull of the wind in their fur. Novel, aged to an elder now, turned his ice eyes to her blue. His coat was bright blue aurora in the deepest of winter, on a summer's midnight sky. Her eyes were that blue, though her own coat resembled her mother's: dark purple and deep green, flecks of her father's blueblack dotted throughout. In the early morning sun, the pair of them glowed from atop the mountain peak.
Novel interrupted her wandering thoughts, putting a pause to her deep smelling and feeling of the sun on her fur. He said "I am getting old." He said "I want to change things, I want to change this pack." He said "Rayla, it will be your time soon."
Her blue eyes filled with tears, because she did not know why he had chosen her. She was a good pack member, but she was no leader. She wasn't even two yet, her father nearing eight by the day. She cried on that mountaintop... and then they walked back down to the pack. Novel told the rest of them of his decision as to who was to be heir, and the pack was unhappy.
Shade was livid, as the older scout, she had more experience, and a head that wasn't lost in the dreamlands all the time. She spat at, Noctus citing her position as Beta, and said that if Rave was to do anything more than leave as her mother had, that she should be a Beta, head in the dreamlands as she always was.
Novel took Shade out of the valley, out of eye, ear, and nose distance to have what was undoubtedly difficult conversation. When the pair returned, Shade glared at a still-sniffling Rave, but went on her way.
It was three days later when Novel could no longer stand. Rave laid by his side, nose deep in her father's fur, and listening to his shallow breaths. Noctus came in, waking the old lead to give him a mixture of some sort. A small bow of her head, and she flicked her ears back at Rave: the time was ever-closer. As the stars brightened in the sky, outside of the cave mouth, pack members came in to share their departing words with their faithful lead, leaving their scent in the air and in his fur for his future journey. Rave nodded off into sleep.
When she awoke, the world was a haze of luminescent blue. She looked around, and saw her father stepping through the mountain mist. She didn't recognize where they were, but it did feel familiar, and safe. He padded soundlessly to her, flicking his ears. He placed his cold, damp nose on her forhead, and a type of light, a shine, a lunar tear, passed from him to her. She was confused, and stood still, feeling no different. He walked past her, dragging his fur along hers as he went. She didn't realize how old he had gotten, how aged his body had been, until she saw this form of him, how he had appeared when she was just a pup.
His fur stopped tugging hers, and she turned back to him, mouth open to ask a question she didn't yet know. But Novel, her father, was gone. She was alone in the dreamland valley, and he was nowhere to be seen. Frantically, she started searching about, but even his smell was fading quickly. She jerked her head up at a sound, and -
Once again, Rave is in the cave with her father. Well, the body of her father. She knew he was gone, even before taking a full breath of her own. His presence was gone, and in front of her stood a strange wolf. He introduced himself as Frayn, and said that a Wisp had guided him here. He hadn't meant to intrude.
The stranger had a crow's foot pierced through his ear, and the skull of a raven on a throng around his neck. He carried many scars, especially for being so young, not much older than herself.
He explained that he was a practicing herbalist, but that he didn't have a connection to the dreamlands at all, so other packs didn't want him. That's why he had so readily followed a wisp without reservation, even knowing they rarely lead to good places, because he had never seen one before.
Rave looked at the lifeless form of her father, stood up, and followed the wise stranger from the cave, seeking the guidance of one who knew what to do...
