Don't let the appearance scare you: this wolf is actually very understanding & intelligent.
He suffers from a condition called Retention Breakdown. This means he cannot create new memories but can remember old memories. In this case, Retention Breakdown is caused by my traumatic injuries, mostly head.
After losing his son in a horrendous battle, Thiryed suffered a blow to the head, which caused his form of Retention Breakdown. Since then, he cannot remember things after 10-15 minutes of being told. As of then, he now writes down everything as needed. His place is filled to the brim with papers and markings that remind him of things.
Each paper has its own unique individual label that states the date, time, environment, reason, emotion, wolves involved, topic, & quotes. To remember certain things, he often has to repeat the information every 5 minutes, like his name, who is mate is, who his closest friends are, who he is loyal to, where his home is, what his strengths are, & so on.
When having a conversation, he has to stop to write things down or pause to repeat the information to stay in the now. Some wolves become very frustrated with him, but most are understanding. He is actually very smart & is one of the best hunters within the pack. He is close to those that are higher than him.
