Stormbringer and her companion, Windheart, found themselves roaming a dense forest. The land here was odd, they were about to step further when Stormbringer ceased her stride, "I smell others, a small group." She said in a whisper. Windheart blinked, "Let's see where it leads." He responded. They treaded carefully through low hanging branches and bushes, the sunlight coming in dapples through the trees. As they cleared some brambles, they came across a creek. They noticed a small group of wolves, three darker adults and what seemed to be an adolescent.
Windheart could tell they were hunters by the paint on their fur and the prey at their paws. The adolescent spotted them, he growled, his fur spiking, "Intruder!" He squeaked, and suddenly all gazes were on the pair. The darkest wolf chuckled and shook her head, "Those are travelers, Cnò." She told the young one, and he blinked, "Oh." was all he said. A brown wolf with darker spots approached the two, "Forgive him, he's still learning. I'm Cuileag," She introduced herself, "And they are Gual, Mullach, and you've already met Cnò." She introduced the rest before she regarded the two again. Windheart blinked at the four and nodded, "I am Windheart, and this is my companion Stormbringer. We hail from The Wanderers." He told them, "We are just looking for a place to rest." Stormbringer added. Mullach huffed as he pushed forward, "We can provide refuge but we've nothing for you to do." He said to which Stormbringer spoke, "That sounds like a dream." She murmured. Mullach turned towards the others, "Gather your prey, we're heading back." He said, before he led the group through the forest.
As they walked, Gual spoke to the two, "I must warn, we aren't your standard pack. Actually, we aren't a pack at all." She said with a small smile, "We're a tribe." She told the two. Windheart blinked before he offered her a reassuring grin, "It don't make no difference to us." He said as Mullach led them through a burrow-like entrance to a clearing. It shocked Stormbringer how small the Tribe was. There were small groups in the clearing, some coming and going while others sat and spoke over prey. Stormbringer's optics focused on a wolf draped in a cloak, she rose from the rock she was sunbathing on and stretched her willowy limbs as she slowly made her way over to the group, as she did Stormbringer noticed the others dip their heads in respect so she and Windheart did the same.
Ida regarded the two, her features beaten with age and her eyes slightly clouded, "We can house you, but we don't have much to offer." She spoke quietly, almost shakily. Windheart regarded her with gentle almost pitiful eyes, "That's quite alright, we appreciate it." He spoke. Ida turned and left them to explore. Stormbringer spent her time in the Mossy Sett, taking care of the pups and listening to stories before she herself was expecting her own. The other mothers and the caretakers made sure she was more than comfortable.
In search of another stop, Stormbringer and Windheart wandered into a rather strange forest. The coniferous smell there was mixed with lunar energy, and, perhaps, a presence something more cryptic, but it didn't scare the travelers.
The forest's silence was suddenly broken by the sound of a cracking branch right behind the them. When they turned back, they saw a little piebald puppy who glanced at them with wonder. Her fawn-colored coat looked rather strange: at first glance it was completely ordinary, but in the moonlight you could notice small turquoise spots running down her body. "Are you travelers? You look like you aren't from around here" - the puppy squeaked while examining the strangers' smell. "Yes, we are, dear" - Stormbringer answered with a warm smile - "why are you all alone he-" - she couldn't finish the sentence because a new noise was heard, this time from the bushes. "Bright Blaze, what have I told you about escaping the camp at night?" - another wolf appeared, he was piebald too, with golden fur and similar turquoise markings, except that they were brighter and more noticeable. He didn't even notice the travelers at first, his tired and a bit irritated glance focused entirely on the puppy. "Sorry, dad" - the puppy answered, trying to look like she's truly sorry for her little mischief - "but look who I found!" - she nodded at the visitors and only then the male noticed their presence. "Oh, we have guests" - he looked rather surprised - "I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself, I'm Wandering Fire and this is my daughter Bright Bla-" - he noticed that the puppy was gone and saw her running to the nearest bushes. "Bright Blaze!" - he called and the pup suddenly stopped and turned around with an awkward smile. "That's it, young lady, you're coming with me!" - now he looked truly fed up with her antics - "follow me, I'll lead you to the camp" - he said to the travelers and quickly grabbed his daughter to make sure she doesn't escape again.
When they arrived at the camp, they were greeted by the alpha of the pack, Fafnir. At first Stormbringer and Windheart got scared of his appearance, but he was really calm and kind, made sure the travelers were comfortable and showed them the cave for guests. "Since we don't have much job to offer, you can just enjoy your stay here" - he said thoughtfully - "but if you want help us, you can look after the pups, and one of our most skilled hunters is currently pregnant, so maybe you could replace her in the hunting team for some time. Anyways, the choice is yours" - he finished his speech and walked out of the cave. After that they met Wandering Fire's sister, Starsky, and Rustheart, who were all also travelers in the past. They spent the night exchanging stories and fun memories from their travels; Wandering Fire joined too, since he was also a traveler, but he didn't have much to share because he was traveling with his sister, and his adventures were basically the same as hers.
Stormbringer chose to be a pupsitter. In fact, there weren't much pups to look after, only two newborns, but Bright Blaze made so much trouble that at this point the whole pack needed to look after her. Stormbringer found a friend in Midnight, one of the eldest wolves in the pack and the most experienced pupsitter and mentor. She told the traveler about the origins of the pack and its rich and tragic history, which explained a lot to her.
Some time later, Midnight had peacefully passed while she was sleeping. Stormbringer participated in her burial and even shed a tear - she will surely miss the wise elder. After the funeral was over, the travelers decided that they should move on.
When it was time for Stormbringer and Windheart to say goodbye to the pack, Bright Blaze came to see them off. "When I grow up, I'll become a traveler too and come to your pack!" - she promised. "Sure, but don't make your father worry about you" - Stormbringer answered with a friendly giggle. After saying goodbye to everyone, the travelers stepped out of the camp, back to the mysterious moonlit forest.
After they left the pack's territory, they heard a light noise of something flying right behind them. Turns out, both of them now had their own lunar wisp following them. It seems it was one last gift from Shadows of the Moonlight. Stormbringer's wisp was a really talkative one, constantly trying to communicate with Windheart's wisp. Both travelers smiled at this interaction and continued their journey with their new companions.
