  "Stars swirl softly throughout its fur, gently fluttering to the ground as it watches over the rambunctious pack around it. Its breath does not puff out cold fog despite the cold. Its paws leave no prints, its small frame dragging along the ground leaves no marks, it has no reactions from those around it. Paws, legs, tails.. all pass through it, where it would otherwise be trampled. It releases no sound. It simply watches."

   Andromeda, the spirit of a pup long since dead, has had no interactions with its packmates. All it has learned has been through watching as the pack taught other pups how to speak. Listening to conversations of the wolves passing near it. It has had no company, save for the fleeting presence of deceased wolves who come and go through the years, who it briefly soothes to allow their spirits to rest. It has nobody to converse with daily, to play with, and has not since the day it died.

   That changed, one day, when a strange wolf entered the pack. From any other wolf's perspective, he seemed unaware of the spirits that clung to him. They whispered to him and tugged at his fur with invisible, tiny paws… and his fur moved with their pulling. His ears flicked at their whispers. He subtly brushed a few nipping at his ankles away with a swish of his tail. Andromeda watched as he ever so briefly glanced around the clearing, his eyes scanning past her. If it had still been alive, its heart would have leapt in joy when his eyes flicked back to rest directly on it. It had just comforted the past leader of their pack upon his passing, and something about this wolf told it that this stranger was soon to become the new leader. And perhaps.. a new friend.
