"You." A booming voice spoke as the newest adolescent of the pack returned from his nightly hunting training. The unnamed male jumped, ears pinned back and body lowering in submission as the Alpha marched over to him with purpose. "Come with me," the DreamWeaver commanded, the skinny teen following him quietly, tail tucked between his legs.
The DreamWeaver lead him out of the Abyssal Void's home, the ravine being left behind as they made their way up the steep side of a nearby mountain, one the unnamed adol knew to be the Eclipsed Cliff. The male paused, unsure about coming here. Why was he here in the first place? Was he about to join the immortals? Was his mortal life over? Would he ever be able to grow up naturally?
Question after question ran through his mind, and the mottled wolf leading him paused to look back at him. The blinding white eyes let no emotion show, the voice stoic as he stated a quick "It's fine. Come here."
The adolescent was conflicted. Was following this stranger worth it? On one hand, he knew that this was a leader of a powerful pack that he was accepted into as a loner. On the other hand, he has only ever known this place to be where wolves go to give up their mortal life to become immortal when called upon.
Despite all these red flags, something in him told him that this was where he was meant to be, and that the situation would resolve itself. He shook his head of all the plagueing thoughts, tail unfurling from between his legs as he held his head high and padded after the Alpha.
"Good. You have a strong mind up there," The DreamWeaver praised, and the birch male only nodded at the words, ears flicking to the side to show that he didn't exactly like being praised. He knew he could be better than he was, and that no one should praise him at this stage in life because he knows he can be better.
"You have been chosen by me to be the leader of the Abyssal Void Pack. Unfortunately for you, there isn't a choice," the Dreamweaver's eyes were narrowed into a glare as they reached the edge of the cliffside. The birch male watched the light-cladden wolf step off the cliff, continuing to walk as if there was ground there. The mottled diety turned around, motioning for the adol to step to the edge of the cliff to face him head on.
The teen was surprised, why was he the one chosen by the gods of the sky? He was new to the clan, he didn't even know anyone! He didn't know why, but he felt that unfamiliar pull towards this scenario once more, and he ignored all the signals telling him to stop as he pushed himself forward until he was standing on the edge of the rocks, forcing himself to not look down at the long fall in front of him.
"A smart decision, young one. You are confused and lost, yet you can feel it in you that this is the duty you are meant to fullfill. I will train you in the stars for one night, then you will descend this hideaway upon sunrise, with a new name, a new look, and news about where I have gone, and what I have said." The DreamWeaver's voice was a loud, echoing bass in the empty air around the two.
"Train for only one night? Will that be enough? Will I be enough?" The adolescent asked, tilting his head as his ears flopped to the side in confusion. All of a sudden, the teenage wolf yelped, almost buckling to the ground as pain blossomed in his eyes.
"Don't move, I am shaping you. Changing you. You are enough, and you will be more than enough when you leave here," He explained, the young wolf doing his best to stand tall, eyes squinted as pain started from the tips of his ears to the end of his tail all at once. He could feel blood gushing from his sockets and his pawpads, horrible, sharp pain wracking through his body with every passing second.
"I am one of the DreamWeavers. We bend and shape the stars and sky to mend broken paths and forge new ones for the future. We are the Moon-Dwellers, and we have one enemy, and one alone. The Embroidment of the Light is the one thing we cannot change. We are unable to destroy that written fate, as we don't have much power in the daytime as we do now. It's court is small, and they seem weak. If it wasn't for the sun, we'd be able to save this world, and the ones after that." Even through the searing, scorching torture his body was putting him in, he heard every word the DreamWeaver spoke, as if the words were meant to echo loudly in his eardrums.
"You will be the one to save us. You will purge this Embroided Book, and destroy the evil gods that rule the light of the world. We weave the night sky, as you will weave the future of the day. This is why I give you the name of Suneater, to symbolize your purpose, and to ensure that above all else, you will not fail this task. You will devour the sun's councel and restore the world to it's proper order."
Suneater felt the pain cease, and opening his new, deep indigo eyes to see his black paws that were no longer blue, claws longer and sharper than normal. He looked up at the god in front of him, unknowingly spreading his large, black feathered wings out behind him to appear bigger.
"Yes, embrace your new, larger, superior form, Suneater. I will teach you everything you need to know in your dream. For now, let your body rest. Sleep, Suneater," the DreamWeaver commanded, the new pointed-patched Alpha collapsing as he passed out from pain, stress, and overexertion, his body falling down the cliffside.
--
Suneater awoke at the top of the Eclipsed Cliff, memories of everything he learned in his dream a fresh scar on his mind as he slowly stood up. He took in a large breath, forcing down his anxiety as he made his way down the mountain with purpose.
