Sorrow, once known as Bartu, had once been a proud member of the Abstruso Pack, a ragtag group of wolves that thrived in the heart of a Acorn valley. Sorrow had found joy in the antics of his mate, Yindi. However, everything changed when a devastating forest fire swept through their home, transforming the vibrant landscape into a charred wasteland. In the chaos, Sorrow lost Yindi, and with her, the light that had once illuminated his world. The flames not only consumed the forest but also left a gaping void in Sorrow's heart, shrouding him in a cloak of sorrow that seemed impossible to shed. Yet, he held a promise to honor Yindi's memory by protecting their only surviving pup. After their home was destroyed, Sorrow entrusted his only surviving pup to an inexperienced pupsitter named Silverblaze. However, her negligence led to the pup's untimely demise, leaving Sorrow to grapple with yet another layer of heartache.
He could no longer recall the name of his precious pup. All he had left were fleeting images: her striking red eyes and distinctive white swirl.

Sorrow's heart has become fortified by layers of disdain and malice toward anyone who dared to approach him with the title of "pupsitter." The memories of negligence and loss haunted him, and he couldn't bear the thought of trusting another with the care of his precious pup. Around puppies, he is a ghost, drifting through their playful antics with a detached demeanor that belied the turmoil within. He watches them from a distance, his eyes clouded with sorrow, refusing to allow himself to feel the warmth of connection that once brought him joy. To Sorrow, the laughter and innocence of the young ones were reminders of what he had lost, and he's determined to keep his heart locked away, lest he face the pain of love.

He finds solace only in the presence of his friend and old leader, Cináed, a trusted figure who had weathered the tumultuous storm alongside him.
