word of this festival came from one of the Caravan Orphans -- two of the prime Caravan pups had been lured away / captured by humans
the humans trained the New Year's Orphans to become excellent fighters but treated them cruelly. the orphans bonded with a bear whose children had been sold away from her. She looked after them and helped the Hart free the animals.
