Training:
Tussling:
During the lesson: Thunder brought a massive branch today and asked all participants to grab onto it with their jaws and hang as long as possible. It looked hilarious as they walked around the den like this for a long while, but Xander determinedly kept his jaw shut and ignored the giggles of the other pups.
Ambushing:
During the lesson: Xander learned a camouflage technique today - rolling in mud, dirt and herbivore poop distracted Thunder enough to steal the toy from under his paws! Thunder congratulated him on his cleverness.
Pathfinding:
During the lesson: Hercules explained to Xander how wet fur is not a good idea, especially in the winter. He demonstrated how to find rocks and dry patches to cross a creek or a river instead of swimming across it.
Socialization:
During the lesson: Today, Thunder invented several poses and expressions and Xander had to guess what they meant. He struggled on some of them, but by the end he had gotten better and Thunder was impressed with how quickly he learned.
Killing Effectively:
During the lesson: Thunder explained to Xander that with bigger prey, you can wound them in vulnerable areas so that they are easier to take down. Xander mimicked where he bit the carcass near the belly and ankles.
Working Together:
During the lesson: Timing is key when working with others so that you don't get in their way. Xander learned that being first sometimes means that you're the first one that gets scolded by River if something goes wrong.
