Biography
Kaiyo and Kuriko, reincarnations of the Akuma's ancestors; the Seishin Clan. During a war, the Seishin we annihilated in battle. But Kaiyo and Kuriko survived. Building on the fading embers of the pack, they managed to eek out a living in the mountains. The mountains back then were much harsher than they are today- prey never migrated up the mountain.
During that time, the pack had a dual leadership. It was passed down until the events of Akira's regime.
KAIYO AND KURIKO'S REGIME - HAJIME ERA
The two soon began to regrow the pack. The first child born to them, fathered by Kaiyo, was Bajiru. Bajiru was one of incredible speed and strength; he was destined to be one of the next pack leaders.
The next, fathered by Kuriko, was Baiorin. Baiorin was one of incredible grace and intelligence; he was to be the other pack leader.
Both Baiorin and Bajiru's siblings were envious of them. They devised a plan- to murder both Baiorin and Bajiru, and to kill their fathers, Kaiyo and Kuriko. But they underestimated Bajiru's combat ability and Baiorin's strategizing. They were banished from the pack before they could land a single hit on them.
Kaiyo and Kuriko went on to have many more children, until they eventually passed.
BAJIRU AND BAIORIN'S REGIME - URAGIRI ERA
Bajiru and Baiorin were strict rulers. They weren't terrible, but their installed many traditions and customs still used in the Akuma today. They ruled during the time the Dreamlands first fused with the world. This was where they met with the god of the moon, Tsuki.
Tsuki was struggling as a god. Although wolves all over the world would howl to her every night, it became a hollow ritual, with no meaning. She was losing the ability to manifest in the real world, and could only appear when the night was longest. Bajiru and Baiorin sought to fix that. They dedicated many traditions and rituals to her. Soon enough, Tsuki was able to create a vessel to carry her spirit with the Seishin Clan. This wolf was named Mari. She was the first albino wolf to ever live within them, and all albinos later on will be named Mari. Tsuki lived in the Seishin Clan only for a short period of time; Mari ended up falling off a cliff.
Bajiru's descendants in order of age: Iwa, Hagane, Kujira, Fukahire, Dekki, Kumo.
Baiorin's descendants in order of age: Kaen, Furamin, Meishu, Medaru, Sho, Meiyo.
Meishu and Fukahire were to be the next leaders. However, Iwa and Kaen were envious. They believed the firstborns should lead the pack, and not ones born in later litters. The two managed to get Hagane and Furamin to join them in their plot. They attacked both Meishu and Fukahire, and Fukahire died. Meishu was left with crippling injuries, and was not suited to become a pack leader. Bajiru and Baiorin were furious, and chased away Kaen, Furamin, Iwa, and Hagane. Iwa and Kaen were tortured before being let free. To replace Meishu and Fukahire, Kujira and Sho were to be the next leaders.
Bajiru and Baiorin had many more children, until they passed.
KUJIRA AND SHO'S REGIME - SENSO ERA
Kujira was the first leader to be female. Some pack members disliked this, and Sho banished them. Sho was very close to Kujira, as they were the ones who prevented Meishu from dying. Sho would still come to Meishu for guidance.
As prey became more prosperous on the mountains, so did rivaling packs. Numerous other packs and clans sprouted up near the Seishin's territory, and they had a never-ending thirst for land. Skirmishes broke out, but the Seishin stayed victorious. That was, until the Kemono Clan had found them. Their strength greatly outmatched the Seishin's- and their defending forces were destroyed. Hearing the news of the Kemono invading, Kujira and Sho went to the Dreamlands to ask Tsuki for guidance. Tsuki said to set traps for them. The Kemono were strong, but they lacked intelligence. They were like mindless beasts, all commanded by their leader. And so Kujira and Sho devised a plan.
When the Kemono led an attack on the Seishin's den, they fell into many traps. Pitfalls, avalanches; anything you could think of. The only wolf in the end was the Kemono leader, Oku. Oku was cornered and attacked by the Seishin forces, ready to finish them off. But Oku released a spirit, gaining immense power. The Seishin had to retreat to report back to Kujira and Sho. Oku followed them. When they reached the den, he said the following words: "I am one of you, one and the same of a Seishin Clan member. Their vengeful spirits beckoned me, and I answered their call. They wish to put Bajiru and Baiorin's bloodlines to an end. I am Iwa, Hagane, Kaen, Furamin. Our loathing hate for you has spurred us on, even in the afterlife." Oku's eyes grew distant, and then their body became horribly disfigured. Oversized teeth and claws, saliva dripping down their jaws. Their chest swelled, the fur thinning to show toned muscle. They lacked any reason at all- a monster. Bakemono, they were called. Wolves ruined by the vengeance of others.
Disgusted, Tsuki beamed down moonlight on the creature. They turned to ashes, destroyed by the light. A Lunar Tear was left in Oku's place, considered a shard of Tsuki's soul. They buried it to keep it safe.
Many more wars were waged, and the Seishin were victorious. Their enemies called them the Akuma- demons of the mountain. Sho liked that name, and so the Seishin Clan was renamed the Akuma Clan.
From Sho and Kujira's descendants, the wolves Sakana and Hoeru were chosen to be the next leaders. Their siblings had learned their lesson and were not envious.
Sho and Kujira had many more children, and then passed.
SAKANA AND HOERU'S REGIME - BAKUSUTA ERA
Sakana and Hoeru's rule was a short one. They were pompous and didn't care for the Clan's safety; they even killed Kujira to speed up the process of them becoming rulers. Sho was already dead, so he couldn't even protest it. Early on there was a famine. The rest of the clan practically starved while Sakana and Hoeru ate their fill.
Sakana was the only to have children, as Hoeru was infertile. Sakana fathered Tenzin and Kame. Tenzin disliked the current rules and system, while Kame was all for it. So Tenzin, with the help of the other clan members, murdered Sakana, Hoeru, and Kame.
TENZIN'S REGIME - MOERUTAI ERA
Tenzin broke the tradition of having two leaders. He decided to go back traditionally and do more rituals with Tsuki. Tsuki was pleased, and they created another vessel. They were pure black, and their name was Yoru.
Tenzin's decendants, in order of age: Chizu, Tatakai, Tsume, Kiba, Sutaring, Akira.
This was where their weakness to the sun came in. When they made a pact to Tsuki, they acquired this weakness. Tsuki was able to stave it off for a while, but Hi, the sun god, overpowered them. Tenzin was able to move the pack to a more shaded area, but that didn't stop it. The pack numbers dwindled until even Tenzin had fallen victim to it. Akira and Tsume were the only survivors of Tenzin's bloodline.
AKIRA'S REGIME - OWARI ERA
Tsume was uninterested in becoming leader, so Akira took over instead. Akira had the ludicrous ability to withstand sunlight. A Lunar Tear was embedded in his right eye since birth. Tsuki remembered the Lunar Tear buried, and asked Akira to bring it out. He had every wolf touch the glistening stone, and their weakness to the sun was gone. They had lost a lot of diversity during the Moerutai Era, but it wasn't all lost.
Tsume decided to have children before Akira. His only surviving pup was Shinobu.
Akira had no children, for he was too busy tending to the pack. He was a kind wolf, and even managed to solidify peace between neighboring packs.
Soon enough, he died.
