The early years could be seen as quite unkind to the young blue wolf. He had only been a young pup when he had gotten separated from his birth pack, although chances are he was simply abandoned due to overcrowding. Ilse wasn't on his own for very long thankfully, otherwise, his chances of survival would have decreased drastically. Small cries were noticed by a pair of humans scouting the wood, leading them to discover the small helpless pup lying within a hollowed-out log. Their paws grabbed him by the scruff and pulled him out, ignoring his frightful cries of rejection. Ilse was brought back to their odd den and soon realized these creatures were seemingly harmless. They offered a meal to him which the blue pup eagerly accepted and Ilse was quick to utilize a comfortable spot on the strange, yet soft, ground beside the controlled fire that could be found within the den.
As he grew into adolescence, the humans he had been living with soon discovered just how difficult it would be to control his wild behavior. Ilse had noticed rather quickly that the humans had trapped hooved prey just outside where they slept and he utilized the opportunity to practice his hunting skills. One of Ilse's favorite feelings was running freely through the open area, commanding his paws to carry him as fast as possible. However, when the humans continued to catch him chasing after the trapped prey, they became hostile, to say the least. Ilse was confused and a little shocked by their behavior towards him. Why keep all the prey around if they weren't going to hunt? Did they even know how to hunt? The youth would question silently in his mind as he watched them angrily wave their arms and bark their foreign language at him. It hadn't been much longer after this when the humans had transferred him into an unknown area of the wilderness and removed the odd adornment they had previously placed around his neck. Before he could realize what was happening, the blue adolescent was left alone once again, unsure of how to react or feel to what had just occurred. He tried not to ponder it too much and began exploring his newly achieved home, his fur bristling with anticipation and curiosity.
Days had passed since he had been relocated by the humans and Ilse was finding his time in the wilderness rather troublesome. Hunting proved itself to be more difficult than he had previously imagined and the chill in the air hinted at the encroaching winter. The icy-coated adolescent had been lying helplessly under a large coniferous tree when an unrecognizable scent made itself known. A mere moment later, a large pewter-coated wolf emerged from the nearby brush, his head was low as he padded by, either unaware of the youth's presence or just unphased. Curious ice eyes watched the figure and before his mind could object his paws were padding towards the stranger, though he kept his distance. The grown wolf's ears flicked back in his direction, having obviously noticed his little shadow and he slowed his pace to a halt before turning to face the growing blue wolf. "You 'gonna just follow me around all day or what?" The dark markings around the wolf's eyes gave off a tired impression and Ilse froze when the male addressed him. "I uh.." Ilse's words were lagging with embarrassment and he averted his gaze from the stranger. Luther's olive eyes narrowed at Ilse's neck, noticing how the fur was slightly shorter there as if something had once been wrapped around the youth. Humans huh? Weird.. He concluded silently to himself before turning and continuing on his way. The distance between the two grew for a moment before the stranger's voice could be heard calling back to the paler male. "You comin' or what, kid" Ilse's ears perked in slight surprise before rushing to catch up to the stranger, unknowing of the bond they would soon form on their travels together.
