Joachim had only been a few weeks old when his father ultimately decided he would be the one to become the new Alpha. This shocking decision left much to be desired from Joachim's older half-siblings, and resentment towards the new heir began to fester among them. In their eyes, Joachim had usurped their claims as heir. He was unworthy of such a responsibility. They were often vocal about their distaste with Isaak's choice. As he matured, Joachim didn't pay these words any mind. It wasn't of his interest to worry about his pack mates' opinions of him.
His time as an adolescent was challenging to say the least. The pressure of knowing he would have to take over soon weighed heavily on him, though he always kept his concerns to himself. He was quiet and reserved, with little interest in interacting with those around him. Those his own age were left disappointed by Joachim's seemingly distant nature and often left him to his own company. This had never bothered the young wolf, having always preferred to be left alone rather than among any of his pack mates. His expressions were often stony compared to those around him. It was always a guessing game as to what might be going on behind his piercing gaze.
In Joachim's early adulthood, his father's time as Alpha came to an end and the pack gathered together to remember their late leader and acknowledge the new one. The large wolf stepped onto a small ledge above his father's den, his sharp eyes glancing from wolf to wolf beneath him as he began to speak.
"Isaak was a powerful yet ruthless leader, his heart darkened from hate for the father before mine. He created all that we have and lead this pack through many harsh conflicts over the years. I am not my father. I bear no ill-will toward the one before me, nor his shortcomings. However, I will lead with the same greatness as he did, make no mistake."
The words seemed to stick to the air for a moment as Joachim calmly made his way down from the ledge. As the new Alpha appointed himself in his father's hollow den, the pack dispersed and continued about their routines. Joachim watched from the darkness of the den, his father's scent still lingering in vacant spots surrounding him.
