Misty

A sprightly yet harmless she-wolf who wandered her way into the pack when she was a pup. Polar welcomed her with open arms, and they became very close as a result, with Misty always looking up to Polar. Misty herself is noted for being cheerful, kindhearted, gentle, and somewhat of a pacifist, not seeking to harm any creature, including those that are prey.

When she reached her mature age, Bear explained to her how the wolf, Turf, had duped him into becoming pupsitter for the latter's daughters. Misty had always been looking forward to helping Bear and Polar look after their pups, but she was content with caring for the pups the pack had then, especially if it meant that Bear could resume scouting. As such, she accepted the pupsitter role from him, but would continue to keep Bear's former role a secret from Polar, as she had promised him. That secret would come out eventually, though, but Polar would choose to allow Misty to keep the role of pupsitter, as well as expand her role into an assistant and substitute for her duties.

During Thermal's takeover, she and Fjord would take refuge in a cave far away from the territory. She was determined not to follow Thermal's order, refusing to become a hunter and serve the wolf who betrayed Polar. Fortunately, she and Fjord would find Polar, and they would end up overthrowing Thermal. Misty would then go on to care for Polar's pups, just as she was looking forward to.

Once all the pups were grown, she would become mates with her eventual fellow pupsitter, Gravel, in order to adopt more pups into the pack. But things got out of hand when they welcomed a stray group of pups into the pack, that would cause a struggle in resources. Polar and Misty would become divided for a time because of this, but Misty was forced to learn her lesson when she adopted a pup named Smoke. Smoke proved quite troublesome for the sitters, and so Misty would welcome the change in assignment when she and Gravel were tasked to look after the elders, instead.

Misty is now a permanent member of the Elders' Den. She would officially take on the task of caring for the elder wolves, including her Gravel. But after Gravel's death, an empty feeling would start to overtake her. Maybe she really did love Gravel as more than a friend and fellow worker. Could they have raised their own pups together? As Misty grows older and finds she can no longer care for herself let alone others, she advises Dove and Pebble to not miss out on becoming parents if that is their wish, since she can see that they love being together as much as they love handling the pack's pups. Even so, Misty wouldn't trade her time as a humble petsitter for the world, knowing that she has done her part in contributing to Rime's legacy.

Misty would then go on to pass on the role of caretaker to Coal, having retired as an elder herself.
