A member of the Shards. He was adopted by the pupsitters, Gravel and Misty. Clay is strong-willed but has a bit of an ego. He tends to be over-confident and shows off during hunts.
Clay is very protective of Crystal, as she and him were adopted at the same time by Gravel and Misty, and he looks to her as his sister. As such, he was not fond of when Midnight was flirting with her.
At one point, Clay had gotten himself injured trying to protect Bone from own mother. When Dawn was punished and sentenced to an early retire, the Shards would lose their finisher. However, Bone would chose to preside over his mother's former role, and he and Clay would end up becoming better friends than before. However, Clay would notice Bone's unsuccessful attempts to woo Spruce, Clay's other adoptive sister. Rather than be protective of Spruce, Clay would chose to take pity on Bone and help him to get closer with Spruce. Meanwhile, he would also reconsider his feelings about Crystal and Midnight getting together, since they seemed happy with each other. He thus decided to them his blessing, putting his enmity towards Midnight to rest and allowing the two to become mates.
