Biography
The last of Gravel and Misty's adopted pups. Unlike their previous pups, they had a difficult time looking after Smoke not necessarily because he was a runt, but because of his rash and unruly behavior. Even Shale had hard time keeping up with him as her first mentored pup.
He and Ravine have become awfully close to one another, as they would both end up becoming scouters for Rime Pack. However, after Ravine learned he would need become the Moonspeaker for Rime, it seemed that their friendship was threatened. Yet, as he becomes aware of the weight of and potential of his friend's destiny, Smoke's mind starts to brim with dark intent. In fact, it was Smoke who would convince Ravine to accept the task by suggesting that the Dreamlands' power would grant him importance and agency within the pack, which was all fine as long as the two friends could continue to spend time with each other.
After Ravine had started to train with Moonspeaker the she-wolf, Smoke manipulates Ravine into letting him interact the lunar objects, despite Moonspeaker forbidding their use by ordinary wolves. With a brief shot of essence's power, Ravine was able to tap into the Dreamlands and hear the tempting, ambitious voices of it's residence. He did not dispel this to Ravine, however.
Recently, he's tried manipulating Dawn into being involved with his ambitions. While she would refuse his offer (only because she felt she was too old to accomplish any plan for a pack takeover), she would propose to Smoke an idea for when he becomes leader. She would like for him to reverse the limitations Polar has posed on Rime's wolves, that he should allow those who live in Rime to do whatever they wanted, including breeding with outsiders. Smoke decides he will take this into consideration, as Dawn's proposal gives him assurance that there will be wolves to back him.
Smoke would soon be offered a proposal from the Wolf of Flame, Thermal, herself. She would offer him leadership over the pack, in exchange for finding followers who will challenge Rime for territory over the glacier. However, Ravine would end up discovering Smoke's plot, and now he would have to choose between his best friend and his loyalty to Rime pack.
Smoke's actions would grow increasingly worse. He would find outside wolves to support the cause of the Wolf of Flame, and encourage them to their own packs involved to wage war with Rime. But his most heinous act yet would be when he would murder Rapid, one of the pups Rime had been instructed find to represent each biome. Smoke had done this manipulate Rapid's former pack to retaliate against Rime, framing his own pack for kidnapping and the murder of a pup. Meanwhile, another one of the adopted pups, Fir, would bear witness to Smoke's actions,. Smoke had actually kidnapped Fir from her old pack, and was planning to manipulate them as well by killing Fir off. Luckily, Fir had managed to avoid him, and would turn to Ravine for help, revealing to him all that Smoke had done.
Armed with this knowledge, Ravine would finally expose Smoke before the entire pack. Smoke would end up fleeing from the territory, and it could only be assumed that he has gathered with his followers and their packs, preparing to launch a full assault on Rime.
Smoke would eventually assemble and tempt the packs of his followers, including that of Fir's former pack. The Wolf of Flame would aid his sway by causing a wildfire that would overspread the valley. Out of their fear and rage, Smoke's followers charge after Rime in the glacier. There, Smoke would also sway a pack of arctic wolves who had challenged Rime earlier in their trek. When Rime would reach the cliff that Rime was planning to make their home, Rime was already prepared to face the large army. As the Wolf of Flame's blaze would continue to spread, so would both armies rush into battle. Meanwhile, Smoke remain in hiding within the blaze, somehow managing to remain uncharred by its heat. At one point, the she-wolf Steam would be tempted by the Wolf of Flame to join them, as they made up her family. But as Steam refused to be swayed and thoroughly condemned her family for what they've done, Smoke would launch himself out of the fire and slay Steam with a single swipe. After which, he would disappear again into the blaze, while his army would fail to the Wolf of Frost.
Smoke has not been seen by Rime since. It appears that he is no longer an ordinary wolf, but a vessel for the Wolf of Flame.
