Casias

While there are no openings for a Hunter in the Stonefangs yet, Casias adamantly stated that he was a hunter, and a hunter only. ...But he'd do whatever the pack needed, he guessed. Symone was just about to leave him where he was, not about this yearling's attitude, but of course the young pack-less wolf quickly reconsidered and followed her. He shrunk and whimpered when she turned around and growled, but much to Casias' surprise, instead of running him off her trail she informed him he would be doing what the Stonefang's needed. Symone also made it very clear that he'd understand the namesake of her people should he try any funny business. Casias' fire died down to a little kindling as he nodded.

Now stationed in the First Home while the pack decides what to make of him, Casias is trying to find his feet. For someone so prickly, however, he doesn't seem to mind Colibrí much when she asks to play, or Willamenah's curiosity, given their similar traits. Casias even seems to prefer their company, perhaps he will be hunting puppies instead of prey after all?

Seems the third hunter group wasn't doing as well as Symone had thought. Catching prey is optimal, but teamwork is the lifeblood of a wolf pack, and if animosity between its members is left to breed, it will beget terrible offspring.

Symone confronted Casias one last time, tired of him trying to take the lead of the hunts and challenging every little choice Willamenah and Hatua make or even suggest. Casias is much less brave with the lead than he is with his huntmates, and it seems her threat of keeping him on the outskirts of the territory was enough to make him worry. Not quite banishment, but so far away from the pack's protection and warmth... No sane wolf would risk it.

Céfiro is a "provisory" member of the hunting team, and while usually Casias would dispute this like he does everything else, he... Doesn't know what to make of it. Sure, he ignores Céfiro most times (like he does everyone else) but he finds himself asking Methuselah how he's doing often, and is often picked to bring him food - something he does not, for once, dispute.

Methuselah only ever heard the bare bones of the conversation Casias had with Céfiro one night before he moved to Lodestar's Glint, once the herbalist had finished with the tail end of the new wolf's treatment for the day. He was free to go to First Home, but lagged behind, and not soon after, Casias slunk into the Sick Den. The older wolf spied on them briefly, fearing mischief, but the younger hunters just... Talked, smiled even. Figuring they just needed the privacy of an empty den, he let them be. But it is curious indeed that after their talk, the ornery Casias - very politely - asked to instead move to the Glint. Curioser still, he talks often with Alkaid now, a wolf whom he only looked at from afar with an unreadable expression.

The Stonefangs mourn the loss of Witkryt, though none suffer her absence as keenly as her now widowed bond Rhett and their pup, Willamenah - who now Casias attends to dutifully. He openly refers as the other wolf as his friend, which is great progress, and while Willamenah wilts every so often as he processes the loss of his mother, Casias has risen to stand as the stick to keep him upright.
