Howlite had already been to the scrying crystal several times in the past. She was content with only having Rowan's pups, never having a mate of her own. So it was a big shock to her when the crystal chose her to be the best match for Linden. She was happy and the two embraced, but on the way back to the den, she asked him if he was sure he wanted this. She had just given birth to a litter of Rowan's pups and she didn't want to force Linden to care for pups he didn't sire. To her relief, he was happy to help care for them until they were old enough to move away to another pack.
