Shadow was chased from his pack when he became mature. Being driven away by the alpha, he was heartbroken for a few days as he wandered aimlessly around trying to figure out what he would do next. It wasn't until a week later that he ran into another wolf, female, who had also been chased from her pack.
Together the two of them decided to try and make their own pack. They hunted together, wandered around looking for a good territory to claim, and even when they couldn't find other wolves to join them, they were ok with just each other.
On a warm sunny day, qhile they were trekking and looking for a territory, a strange scent lingered in the air. Shadow froze and told his companion, who followed the scent to a human encampment. Shocked, she accidentally walked into a bear trap and unfortunately became captured by the humans.
Shadow ran for safety and was on the run for quite some time as the humans chased him. Finally they gave up though, and he collapsed exhausted and heartnroken yet again in unfamiliar territory. Falling asleep with pitful whines, Artemis actially found him and brought him to the pack where they comforted him and gave him a home when he had none.
