Growing up in a large pack can be tough. You don't get enough attention from the adults, the other pups can sometimes be mean (especially around dinner time), and it's very easy to get overlooked. Unfortunately that's what happened to Sonas.
He had to learn to be mean in order to fend for himself amongst the other pups. Becoming Malicious, the adults paid attention to him in negative ways. They saw his aggression as energy and strength, and so they fed it, and taught him how to fight and hunt and become stronger.
With this upbringing, he became bold and brash and would set off on his own without telling anyone. One day he decided to leave, that he could so better than this pack and could even have his own pack if he wanted.
So in search of his own territoy, he stumbled upon a pack that had very different dynamics than what his did. He frowned as he watched them. They seemed full of love and respect, and they worked together as a perfect team to get even the simplest of tasks done. Could there possibly be a different way of life?
Curiosity got the better of him and he wandered down to the pack. At first he poked fun at them, but Hiro and Alou saw the hurt behind his malicious words and they asked if he would like to stay for a while, eat and drink, possibly get some rest. With some convincing he agreed, and they treated him as a pack member ever since.
Once he saw that they loved him and saw the good in him, he became optimistic that the world could be so much more than what he had grown up with. Hiro made him Beta after he asked to join the pack permanently.
