The death of Queen Euphrates...it proved more than his heart could bear...
Nothing was harder for Tarik than watching her age. From the moment he first laid his eyes on the she-wolf when they collided in the forest, the male had never been more in love. He wished never to leave her side, and when she invited him to be the first member of his pack, Tarik couldn't be more than thrilled. But then...then...he ruined it all didn't he? Becoming the breeding male, alongside being the Beta became his job, and he couldn't help but to notice that sad look in her eyes when he'd return from the Studding Market with an unknown she-wolf from an unknown pack trailing excitedly behind him.
Euphrates became cold to him, demoting him from the status as her lover. Despite her original plans on producing an heir with him, Euphrates never spent anymore of her heats with him after the birth of her 3rd litter, and none of their pups together were crowned as potential heirs. Through it all though, he remained loyal, but looking back on it now...oh how he wished it never came to be this way. He still loved her, more than life itself, and as she aged, it hurt his heart not to be able to hold and comfort the Queen in his paws like the days of their youth. She confided in him...from time to time, but it was never the same.
When he heard the mournful cries that morning, he already knew what had happened. He felt it happen, felt Euphrates' body finally release her spirit. He remember how she told him she'd never truly leave. Being half dream-spirit, she was bound to come back someday, but following the burial, and the crowning of his step-daughter Morava, Tarik slipped away into the forest, and he broke down in tears. His last few days alive nobody saw him. The Beta sealed himself away in his den, waiting for his old age to finally catch up to him. La-Lune was promoted to Beta cause of this, but he didn't care.
Finally, a few nights after Euphrates passed, Tarik felt himself slipping away. He wasn't sad though, cause at the least, he would be free from his grief. As he took his final breath, he swore to the stars and the goddesses of the earth and sky that he'd find his way back to Euphrates, and that he would make things right, even if it took 1000 years, he would be back by her side, if she allowed it. Unbeknownst to him, Euphrates was more than eager to, but he'd find out soon. He'd be back with her soon...

Tarik was the first wolf Queen Euphrates came across on her travels in search of territory to claim and start a pack on, having stumbled into the young female a fateful spring morning after running away from an enraged buck he tried to take down for dinner. This resulted in the both of them having to run away, and led to them tumbling down a cliff's edge.
Because of this, Euphrates already held a distain for the male, and as soon as the coast was clear she tried to ditch him. However, Tarik had already found himself smitten for this strange female with glowing eyes, and refused to be deterred so easily. Euphrates was irritated by his flirts and gestures to say the least, and tried to chase him off at one point, but Tarik didn't let it bruise his ego. Eventually, Euphrates found herself warming up to his company, and Tarik's flirty nature didn't seem as bothersome as before. She permitted him to become her companion, and to join her pack when she found a suitable place to call home, and, well, the rest is history.
Tarik became a loyal mate, but unfortunately it didn't stay that way. As the pack's breeding male, he of course spent nights in the company of other females, of which resulted a good number of his children. Euphrates, on the surface, didn't appear angry with him, and Tarik still is considered the pack's Beta, but their days of intimacy have long gone, their relationship reverting to that of close friends. They still have love for each other, but its not as strong as it was before. He longs for the day he can hold her close in his paws again. Perhaps she would be so kind to give him another chance..Regardless, Tarik is still very loyal to Euphrates and the pack, and does his best to be a good father.
