Coals was born to Soot, and had his two siblings Acorn and Barkwood. Coals and his family were celebrated as the second next generation litter of pups. By the time they were born Cobble and Cinder were well into their later puphood stages. Coals however, had a crush on Cobble.
As Coals followed Cobble around a lot of the time, he looked up to her with her jokes and humour. He copied her, finding out that he didn't like being serious, like his big sister Cocoa. He was eventually taken away from Cobble one day when she attempted to take him outside camp, and he was never allowed to see her again.
