Biography
☼ Wytt ☼ is stretching and lifts their bum with their tail raised high right in your face as you walk by. Subtle!
Wytt stumbled into the hollow, eyes narrowed into a squint, casting about for familiar landmarks that would guide her home. She could hear the voices of her packmates around her as she shuffled along slowly, but her vision would not return no matter how hard she blinked. She knew she shouldn't have left the hollow alone, but she had gotten too excited for sense. Now she was terrified that she wouldn't ever be able to see again and she had no idea where home was.
Eventually she heard her mother barking orders to some of the hunters and began making her way toward the sound. By the time she reached Anahera there were tears trailing down Wytt's cheeks and she was sniffling trying to get control of herself. Anahera's voice cut off abruptly, presumably once she noticed her daughter's presence and out of character emotional state, and she rushed over.
"What on earth happened to you?! Where have you been, and— your eyes! What happened to your eyes?!"
Wytt sniffled again and the explanation came flooding out in a jumble of words and tears, "I left the hollow on my own and I didn't watch where I was going and there was this den and I stumbled right in and the badger got me!"
Wytt could barely see her mother in front of her, but she knew that Anahera's face had gone slack with shock.
"Where is this creature? Nikau, Winnie! Find this badger's den and relocate it by whatever means you see fit!" The alpha turned to her daughter again and snuggled around the small huddled form as she cried. "It's alright now, you're safe and sound and no one will have to worry about it again."
Wytt turned her face up toward the sound of her mother's voice and furrowed her brows in her worry as she said, "but my eyes, mum... I can't see."
—
Wytt stalked through the training hollow and out into the forest, ignoring Rasp's indignant shouts as she went. In fact, she shouted back at him something about where he could shove all his complaints. As the fuzzy green shapes of leaves brushed by her periphery she shook her head and began to grumble to herself. She was a fantastic hunter even with her impairment, but for some reason Rasp was paranoid about letting her actually accompany him on a hunt outside the hollow! How was she ever supposed to learn if he was constantly holding her back?
"I mean, sure, it's just him that keeps me back, the others are whatever, but..." she trailed off as she came to the edge of the river. The shape of another wolf sat there and Wytt made her way warily toward it. "Uh, hey."
The other wolf came into focus and turned with a bit of a start, "ah, Wytt. Sorry, I didn't see you there. You out here for a bit of alone time as well?"
Wytt nodded at Arnfinn and plopped down beside the young wolf. "Rasp is holding out on me again. What's your problem?"
Arnfinn snorted at her brusque question but answered, "my mother expects too much of me. She wants me or one of my brothers to be the next alpha but it's really not our place. It should be you, in fact."
Now it was Wytt's turn to let out a derisive snort, "me?! You're dreaming. Like they'd ever let me be alpha. It sounds painfully boring anyway, just sitting around the hollow all day every day. Why don't you just accept it, you're Áleifr's son so it's not unheard of."
"Well, really I think she just wants me to hold the place for one of my brothers, so..." he shook his head and sighed, "it's not exactly licit."
"Your mother's always seemed pretty great, but that's downright sneaky. She's got a fun side, huh?" Wytt shot a lopsided grin at her cousin and he chuckled. "Well, Nikau hasn't even had any pups yet, so who knows what will actually happen?"
"This is true," Arnfinn agreed with a little smile, "well, may the best wolf win, then."
—
Wytt smiled at the shapes of her pack and family standing around her, howling in her honor. Her mother howled the loudest of all, for she had just made her daughter a full member of her pack. Wytt wasn't sure exactly what to do, so she just stood there and let the pack finish with their excitement and begin to disperse. They each came to congratulate her personally before departing back to whatever tasks they had been about before the ceremony had been called. Her mother stepped up last as her uncle Nikau bounded off giggling like a pup in his peculiar way.
"Are you ready, then?" The large golden she-wolf asked.
"Ready for what?" Wytt questioned her, puzzled.
"For your first hunt, of course!" The pack's beta and her other uncle's strong, clear voice piped up behind her. She spun around and gawked.
"I get to hunt? I thought I'd just end up another pupsitter like Faleeah did when she got hurt and no one thought she could handle anything anymore."
"Now, is that any way to speak of your poor cousin, as if she was relegated to that position rather than gracefully suggesting it after her accident? Not to mention, by extension you've just insulted my own mate, little mockingbird. You just focus on you and you'll make a fine hunter. I've seen your work in the training hollow... and outside it when you thought no one had followed you in your little shows of defiance to your poor teachers."
Wytt scowled openly at Winnie's words and accusations, rolling her clouded eyes and turning back to her mother, "so, who am I to be hunting with, exactly? Your team?"
Anahera chuckled at her daughter's hopeful tone and cocked her head back toward Winnie with a cheeky eyebrow raised. Wytt's eyes shot open wide in indignation.
"Him!?" She whirled back to face Winnie, "you don't even have a proper team yet! And you'll just be poking fun at me all the time, you old badger!" Winnie laughed aloud at this outburst and cuffed her over the ear playfully.
"You'll be the start of it, yes! And I won't deny it, I like a good challenge, and to poke fun. We'll have some good times, come on!"
