Prelims Recaps
Lots of fantastic shows and competition at the Mustang invitational. Piedmont finished 1st place in 5A and 7th overall. Way to go Pop! 🎉
A bittersweet day. POP took significant points hits for a setup/off the field delay but moved up from 9th standing to 7th even so. And Tyler was finally able to speak with Mr. Rivera while out on the field for congratulations. Baby Bird came back to camp with tears in his eyes, but had to smile when I asked him if Mr. Rivera had given him any advice. "He said 'Don't scream on the bus'. Because Mr. Rivera was the only one who could handle it when we got rambunctious.".
Teachers leave an impression on our kids. Some good, some bad, and some more than others. Mr. Rivera may not realize the full extent of the impact he had on my son, but I hope he knows just a little of how much Tyler respects and admires him. And the very deep affection he holds for him. For that, this mother thinks the world of him.

Band of Americas in Midland, Texas...What an adventure!
POP competed against 27 other bands and while they didn't make it to finals, they placed 2nd in their class. Way to go PRIDE!

Having the judges award Piedmont 4th place in State Finals certainly isn't what I wished for them tonight, but as I waited for Tyler to return to camp I was given one of those reminders that somewhere along the way I blinked and he grew up. He walked up with a smile on his face and gave me a great big hug. "It's ok mom. Everybody likes to win, but I'm happy! I'm happy with our show. I'm happy for the winners. Did you see how excited they were?! Everybody should experience that feeling. That was us last year, and I'm just glad I got to experience it once."
Couldn't be more proud of my son and the other Piedmont kids. 💜
