Biography
As you continue to explore the den, you come across a stocky brown pup, who is busying himself gnawing on a bone. But what really catches your eye are the markings around his neck, where his fur is worn and missing in some places. The tell-tale sign of an animal that had once worn a human collar!
You turn to Crater, who nods, confirming your suspicions. "Jack was stolen from his den when he was very young. He was raised by humans. They never even let him outside. Just kept him locked up inside their den, and made him eat out of a bowl. Treated him like one of their... pets." Crater shudders.
You can't help shudder too – imagining what a life like that must have been like. Eating hard pellets that looked like rabbit droppings off the floor, and being forced to endure the human touch – constantly running their bald, spider-like paws down your spine.
The two of you watch as the young puppy continues to gnaw at his bone, trying to get at the marrow inside.
"Jack wasn't even old enough to be able to remember his real name," Crater says. "All he knows is the one the humans gave to him." She shakes her head. "You must be gentle with him. He is not accustomed to the laws of the wild, nor what pack life is really like."
Crater smiles sadly.
"Finding him a home will be difficult. Some wolves are very… judgmental, about that sort of thing. But Jack's still young. He'll learn quickly. He'll make a wonderful addition to someone's pack one day."
--------------------------------------------
When Jack hears that you are adopting him, the bone drops from his mouth in astonishment. "Th-thank you," he stammers. He puffs out his chest. "Don't worry, I won't let you down. I'm going to be the best wild wolf ever!"

Jack followed behind Dark Chocolate Cone, his grey eyes glittering in the sunlight as he watched the frame of Chicken Penne come into view. He strained his neck out a bit more to take a peek at the two new faces that followed behind the lead wolf; two new members that looked around his age.
His paws itched expectantly. He was here for a short time, but Dark Chocolate Cone was already showing him proper pupsitting techniques. His mentor let out a soft chuckle as the lead wolf finally entered the cave and nudged the two youngsters towards them both.
"At this rate, we'll be up to our heads in pups and adolescents to look after," Dark Chocolate Cone jested.
"As long as there's enough food to go around, I'm sure you'll all be okay," replied Chicken Penne.
Dark Chocolate Cone gave Jack a reassuring nudge to step forward. "Go on, just like we've practiced," he said to him. The apprentice was nervous; he hadn't yet greeted any newcomers yet but he forced his head up high. Everyone believed in him and he wanted to be the best pupsitter he could be!
"Hello! My name is Jack!" he introduced himself with a wide smile. "I'm an apprentice that'll help take care of you until you're ready to go out into the wild to find a new pack to call home! What are your names?"
The female was the first to speak up and Jack could already feel an air of confidence from her words. "I'm called Pressure-Cooked Light Ale," she said before she pointed the tip of her tail towards her brother.
Sensing his cue, the male adolescent smiled politely. "Blanched Pepper Bake. It's nice to meet you, Jack." He dipped his head respectfully towards the two.
"Nice to meet you both," interjected Dark Chocolate Cone. "I'm Jack's mentor, Dark Chocolate Cone. I'll introduce you to Avocador Snacks, our other pupsitter. We're happy that you're here."
Jack looked expectantly at the male pupsitter. "Can I please give them a tour?" He wanted as much practice as he could before he became an official pupsitter.
Chicken Penne gave a small nod. "These two seem like good pups. Knock yourself out," she mused, "I'll leave these two in your care now. Holler if you need something." With that, the lead wolf made her way out of the Kidz Table.
Now with approval from both the lead and his mentor, Jack had to stop himself from hopping from pure excitement. "Now, please follow me!" he yipped happily, "I'll introduce you to the other pups and then to the rest of the pack! They're all pretty nice!" His first tour! He couldn't believe it! Pretty soon, he'd be the one teaching pups all that they needed to know to be a wild wolf! Oh, his paws were itching for that moment!
