A friendly and outgoing wolf, Moss Step was delighted to make a friend when he crossed paths with Autumn Specter one swampy spring evening. Surprised by the playfulness of a lone wolf, she inquired as to what he was doing so far from any others. Moss Step admitted, reluctantly, that his restless nature has eventually led to him no longer being welcomed back into his pack, as they saw him as too unreliable. Autumn Specter invited him to come back to the forest with her, and he was thrilled to be offered a home he could visit as he chose. He spends time 'home' at Autumfall pack territory in the dense forests, running with the hunt teams and playing with the pack's pups. But, as sure as the wind changes, he is always called back to the road, to all the marvels and adventures that await out there in the world. Moss Step happily carries news, and deliveries, of all kinds on behalf of folks who host him, or just a passerby needing a paw with something. He's always polite and "Much obliged, miss" in his interactions with stranger, no matter how, ah, spicy some of them may occasionally become. I mean, shucks, if you wanted him gone all ya had to do was ask, yikes.

Lore: Moss Step ran into Duskwhisper of Everfury. She, the eldest scout in the very young pack, was herself a novice to scouting, but she was determined to help the others who depended on her. Moss Step had clearly been in the woods long enough to show her some tricks, so when he offered, she took him up on it. To her surprize, he hadn't even the scouting experience she had! But, he had hunted for so long, the traveler was actually more comfortable passing quickly and quietly through underbrush than she was. Thanks to his aid, Duskwhisper was able to cover twice the ground in the same time, and find enough leads on food to quell her concern that the pack was nearly half puppies the last time she went home. The few hunters they had were roaming far and wide, often limping home only to collapse, wake up, and head out again. Even with winter coming, Duskwhisper was no longer afraid of the frost - Everfury wolves had very snowy coats, and thanks to Moss Step, they had enough food to grow them in before the water seeds fell.
