Chased from her pack's territory when she was scarcely more than an adolescent, Pine Silver wandered through the beginnings of summer feeling lost. As she passed through the dense greenery of the deciduous forests, she spotted a strange wolf. Abruptly she realized she'd crossed into a strange pack's territory, but the wolf wasn't aggressive. She surveyed Pine Silver keenly for a moment, then dropped into a play bow and wagered which of them could catch the rabbit she'd scented. Pine Silver was breathless with laughter after their fruitless race when the wolf asked if she was lost. Sobering quickly, she admitted that she hadn't a home and so she wasn't sure if she could be lost. Autumn Specter sat and listened as she found, once she'd begun to explain, she couldn't stop the words from pouring out. She told her how her pack had struggled through the past winter, how only a few of her litter mates had lived and then, when they were old enough to hunt for themselves, the pack had sent them all away. All save the biggest, strongest sibling had been told to leave, because the pack could not support them anymore. Her other siblings had split up, and Pine Silver had just... wound up here eventually.

"I didn't mean to trespass, I was just looking at the flowers and then there was a butterfly and suddenly... I'm so sorry," she added meekly. Autumn Specter nodded,

"I've a few packmates who do the same." Then she invited Pine Silver to join them and, to her surprise, Pine Silver hesitated. She had ached so much at being sent from her home, but there had been something wonderful about seeing more of the world than those rocky slopes she'd been born on. Hesitantly, she tried to explain this odd feeling to Autumn Specter, only for the other wolf to chuckle and nod. "I've a few friends who feel that way too. Perhaps they're the ones you would do well to meet."

Only a brief conversation with the outgoing and adventurous young Moss Step and the contented wanderer Humble Bear, fresh from his travels and entertaining one of the pack's young adolescents with stories, had Pine Silver ready to set out on her own travels. But this time, it was her choice to leave. And, this time, she had a home to return to if she wished.

Lore: Traveling on, Pine Silver discovered snow in the far mountains, and came upon a wolf who had left the safety of dark forest to touch the falling flakes on an open mountain slope. Seeing this playful wanderer pouncing at nothing particular, Pine Silver stifled mirthful laughter. Duskwhisper, Everfury's most seasoned scout, froze, moving only her eyes to scan the woods. Pine Silver wondered if she had made a mistake. After a tense moment, she stepped out, and Duskwhisper appraised her only long enough to decide to continue pouncing snow. Eventually, Pine Silver moved slightly closer. As if matter-of-factly, Duskwhisper looked at her quite seriously and said she was hunting water seeds, before asking where Pine Silver was from. Tactlessly, Duskwhisper, whose life had been spent scouting, asked if Pine Silver was chased from home. Pine Silver stuttered and said that was a long time ago - but that now she chases her own tales under the open sky. Appearing still serious, Duskwhisper announced that was very good - that the hunt teams were very small, and they could really use a seasoned chaser. A strange invitation to visit her tiny pack was accepted as Pine Silver - what else? Gave chase to the strange wolf, where she found herself not only treated to all the food she could eat, but trusted as a confidant in aiding a tiny hunting team that had never experienced a winter.

HOME - spring, return, When Pine Silver returned home, she confided in the sarcastic herbalist some concerns she had for her new friend Duskwhisper, who had been suffering quietly for some time as their pack's herbalist struggled to find the ingredients he needed to learn his craft. Biting Bark scoffed, still ruffled from Humble Bear's praise of another pack's healer, and told Pine Silver he'd take care of it.
