This is Egg. Egg is not the brightest bulb in the basket,
but he means well. He was Fever’s first real friend, and they’re thick as
thieves to this day. Egg and Fever met shortly after setting out from their
birth packs; Fever was hungry and cold, and Egg had managed to catch an elk
calf. He was all too happy to share his warmth and food with a complete
stranger, and the two hit it off right then and there. Egg isn’t particularly
good at hunting or defending himself, and he can be way too trusting of
complete strangers. However, his generosity and kindness makes up for it, at
least according to Fever herself.
Now Egg is happily established in a pack that keeps him fed
and safe. He returns the favor by babysitting the pups, and genuinely adores
his role. His sweetness and trusting nature has made him a popular target for
pranks, but he doesn’t seem to mind. Pups are too cute to stay mad at, and he’s
quick to forget. Despite his ditzy personality, Egg does take pupsitting very
seriously, and keeps a close watch over his charges. Predators and enemy wolves
who happen upon the nest will find themselves facing down a large, vicious wolf
who doesn’t know when to quit. Even Fever is unnerved by how suddenly this
change can occur.
Fever tried to give him a symptom name, as is pack
tradition, but he kept forgetting it and didn’t respond when called. She tried
for a few weeks before metaphorically throwing her paws in the air and allowing
him to keep his old name. There’s only so much one wolf can do.
