IMMORTALITY LORE
Oceanic Stripes was a young pup originating from the Darvaza Crater, a pack of wolves who lived far from the glacier. As an adolescent, he was lead alongside Bunya, Shine of Silver in Water, Bronze Morning Light, and Glow of the Swamplands by Breeze on a three-week journey to his current pack. He was the first wolf to discover a passageway that lead safely down to the bottom of the three-mile drop from the caves to the rushing turbulence at the bottom, and was often seen down there, playing in the water. He soon began to develop agile swimming skills and the ability to hold his breath underwater for more than an hour, shockingly long for any wolf except for the few who quite literally live underwater. Oceanic fell out of his hunter role as he began to fish instead, catching a myriad of fish at once along with a certain glow to his tail-tip, eyes, paws, and breath. Weirded out, a young wolf by the name of Ceramada pushed Oceanic off the edge of the glacier, without unclawing him or wounding him. Nobody knows what happened between that time and the first time a wolf, specifically Breeze who was pushed off by the same Ceramada drowned and was met by him. He was cloaked in ropes and jewels made of blue gems, ice, and liquid water itself, his paws, breath, eyes, and tail glowing and almost flaming with bright blue water. He spoke with Breeze before sending her back to the top of the glacier, though farther downriver, and it took the alpha three days to get back, by which time Ceramada had taken control of the pack and shoved them into chaos. Breeze returned, shocking the wolves as she came back and pushed Ceramada off as soon as she arrived, having made a deal with Oceanic to give the betrayer to the new water deity. Oceanic since had given both his original pack and his adoptive pack's members a second, occasionally a third chance at life when they drowned. The rivers near Cougarclaw's Spirits are but a gentle river, though they are constantly hosting turbulent storms to make up for the calmed water flow. Oceanic was the first legend/deity, known by many as the Lonely One. He still prefers to be in charge and first, even though he's not the actual leader of the deities, but it's still better not to get on his cross side. He rules the waters of the Darvaza Crater and Cougarclaw's Spirit, lurking deep in the oceans of the glacier and waterways through the Crater.
WELCOME - Individual Interaction
Having just heard the story of Oceanic Stripes, a water deity from this pack, you peer into the murky yet surprisingly calm waters below the cliffside. It's impossible that there could be the spirit of a wolf down there.. right? Your tail flicks as you lean downwards for a closer look. Very interesting stories.. you begin to ponder about meeting the Darvaza Crater wolves. You glance over at Rocky, Sprouted, and Red-Eyes. "Have any of you actually met him?" Red-Eyes lets out a long laugh and shakes his head. -+` I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that wolf. I've drowned twice. Unfortunately, your memories of him get really foggy when you come for another life, or else everyone would know what he looks like. `+- You nod, not really understanding Red-Eyes and judging the scout for his vague story and his belief in what you would call a pup-tale. As you look behind him, you notice a small spot of many portraits of what appears to be the deity. All the portraits have.. different styles? You thought Rocky was the only wolf who drew, but now that you look closer you can see the signatures of half the wolves here. It seems these are all the wolves who have met him, since they all have different dates but the same art of the same wolf. Rocky smiles and lets out a giggle as he notices you looking at the paintings. +Would you perhaps be interested in meeting him? Oceanic is very kind to our travelers. You can paint a picture of him then,+ the wolf suggests with a tiny smile. You shake your head quickly. Are the wolves purposely trying to drown you? Looking at the drawings makes you curious once more, so you gaze down into the water. By now, your front paws are on the very edge, but you forget and try to place a paw in front of you, putting most of your weight on it, and let out a shocked cry as you topple downwards. In the couple seconds you can hear the wolves above you, you can hear Sprouted telling Red-Eyes to 'go downriver, the traveler will be over there.'
The wind as you begin to fall quickly blows heavily in your ears. Your end is coming and you know it; you couldn't survive falling from three miles up, anyways..
SPLOOSH
There's a loud crash as you topple into the water, pain immediately coursing through you as you thrash one paw. Three of your limbs broke upon impact - you can't swim without feeling intense pain that makes you dizzy. You struggle for a little less than a minute, lungs burning, before your vision blurs and you black out.
Your eyes flash open and you let out a deep snarl, surprised you can breathe since you're so deep in the water the only light is a blue and brown wolf with glowing eyes, tail, paws, and breath. He inclines his head forwards with a low huff. {-+ Not so fake anymore, huh? It hurts when wolves think of me as a pup-tale, but Red-Eyes and Breeze are counting on you back, so I may as well let you live. I don't have a use for you anyways.. we don't really have anyone else who could use you, either. Kind of lonely out here, don't you think? +-} Oceanic asks. He's cloaked in icy, watery, or glimmering gems in every shade of blue possible. You also notice a pendant on his neck that pulsates and occasionally seems to whisper to you about water. Oceanic sees you looking and cracks a grin. {-+ It's mine, not yours, +-} he says with a simple shrug, though he starts fiddling with it protectively as if you'd try to steal it. Then he frowns and narrows his glowing eyes. {-+ It's time for you to leave, pup. You've been down here long enough, you need to get out of here before you drown again or Red-Eyes assumes you're dead. We're already way too far downstream. +-} Almost as suddenly as you arrived, you black out and wake on the edge of a cliff far away from the den. You blink and struggle up, dizzy and weak. Your memory is foggy, but you can remember clearly what Oceanic looked like and that he said to go upriver, so you begin to travel North until you find Red-Eyes. He laughs. -+` Quite the encounter, huh? `+- he says, before he quietly begins leading you back to Cougarclaw's.
LORE WITH OTHER DEITIES (for chaotic reasons as i plan on making a lot of rivalries :D)
Oceanic let out a deep sigh and rested on the floor of the river, licking his paws as he relaxed. It'd been quite a while since anyone had visited him, or more to say, drowned. There were no other deities to talk with, either; he was so far the only wolf to have become one. He rested his head on his paws while he waited. Soon, he was sure, soon...
