A single ray of moonlight beamed down from the sky, filtering in through the leaves and casting a couple scattered patches of glowing white light on the floor of the forest. The wolf's eyes glistened in the light as he trotted over the roots of the many twisting trees, his long tail twitching as he maneuvered though the woods. Slowly, ever so slowly, he made his way towards a certain destination, his path never changing as he intently walked. There was a certain silence in the air as he walked, like some sickness had spread through the air and silenced every creature who sung. He yawned as he trotted, taking long strides and leaving the ground disturbed in his wake, the once confident birds who loved to shriek at the top of their lungs, much to bother wolves, were purely silent, any tentative birds that thought about crying out in the night quieted in the darkness left behind as the wolf walked. It was night, of course, but even then.. the difference plagued the creatures left watching where the wolf had disappeared to, feeling like they had missed something as obvious as the difference between night and day.
There was a certain awful, dreadful feeling left in the wolf's path, one that chased cryptids, animals, spirits alike, never relenting, never leaving them be. The feeling seemed to be forever after the wolf itself, whose eyes were troubled and paws - however steady they looked - trembled and shivered. The wolf's ears were pinned and there was a certain stray malice lost in the wolf's foggy, mysterious, blank stare, which was the only distinguishable emotion in the wolf's mess of feelings. The darkness succeeding his paws seemed determined to inject the rest of the creatures with whatever emotions rang through the wolf's head. Mostly, fear.
