Biography
A brachycephaly pup has only one thing to look forward to: death.
Karasyn was born gasping for air, her snout too small to breathe. With each day that passed her tongue got larger and her ability to breathe lessened. Her eyes opened before her littermates, but that only allowed her to see the horror on her mother's face at having birthed a living corpse. When Syn was a month old her mother took her into her mouth and carried her out of their glacier homelands and into the wooded tundra. She placed her down in a fairy circle, telling her that she was cursed and belonged with other cursed beings. All Syn could do was wheeze as she watched her mother abandon her. It wasn't long before the mushrooms started to smell funny. The wind seemed to whisper through the rotten trees, and the strong smell of mold and mildew filled Syn's tiny nose until she was coughing up her little lungs. A dark figure emerged; a beautiful female wolf with dark eyes and a sinister smile. "Mine" she growled, and Syn shook like a fallen leaf. The closer she walked to Syn the more she trembled in her terror. "Mine" she murmured, much softer this time. She leaned over the fairy circle and placed a kiss upon Syn's forehead. The air left Syn's lungs, and no matter how much she gasped she couldn't catch her breath. But she wasn't suffocating either. The need to breathe, the violent pump of her heart against her miniscule ribcage, had vanished.
Syn had become an immortal changeling of Mabh, the Quean of the Autumn Court of the Fae. This shady sorceress, who was known for her chaos and cruelty, was also infamous for her skills as a midwife. She had seemingly taken pity on poor Syn and granted her power. As long as Syn acted as her eyes and ears she would stay immortal. The only proof Mabh had ever been there, that Syn didn't imagine the interaction, was a little stuffed worm with eyes that seemed too alive for an inanimate object. With the pact made all Syn had to do was wait. Maybe it was days, maybe it was years. Her only company was her little stuffed squish she had decided to call "Greggory." Syn learned to articulate by speaking to the stuffie, wondering if Mabh could hear her or if she was truly all alone. She had long since given up waiting for a pack to adopt her, as Mabh had instructed her to do.
Slowly but surely she used her stunted limbs to crawl away from the deadwood and closer to life. Many a predator picked Syn up in their mouth, but no matter how hard they chewed they could not break her skin! After getting over her initial terror of almost being consumed (being in the belly of a bear not once but TWICE and waiting to be shat out was NOT fun!) she started to piss in their mouths whenever they grabbed her.
When Syn finally met GB she couldn't be more relieved! The little gnome was an ambassador of spring for autumn negotiations. Helping out a changeling that belonged to the Quean herself would do wonders for his reputation, as his master and Kara's were somewhat friendly with one another. So step by step GB, which was short for "Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz," (a name even an adult wolf would struggle to pronounce!) began to carry Syn towards her new home. Syn enjoyed the jolly humming and songs of the little fellow who was now her personal chariot. She found it strange that GB had a name so similar to her stuff worm, and that he had just happened to find her. Why hadn't he come for her when she was first turned? What took him so long? Did Mabh mean for anyone to find her at all or was it all happenstance?
Regardless, she wasn't about to question the beady-eyed gnome. In all honesty she was just thrilled to be moving faster than a worm's pace and have someone to talk to. When they finally reached a pack they heard didn't discriminate against mutants, GB said it was time to say goodbye. However, with a lot of begging and pleading he agreed to come back and visit as much as he could. "An ambassador's life is incredibly busy" he reminded the brachy pup. Syn grew to love Beastenguard, especially the other immortal pups who had lethal mutations just like she did! It wasn't long before Daewn, the alpha of the pack, realized that Syn had a special connection to the fae. She appointed her an honorary member of the royal family and became the official Autumn Court Ambassador for Beastenguard, so that they may do dealings with the fae if they so pleased. Syn was loving her new life. She would forever live in a family where she was loved, though it did make her sad to watch her friends grow old and die. Still, whenever she was lonely or needed GB she would just whisper to Greggory and sure enough he would just "happen" to drop by for a visit. As an ambassador for the pack she ended up seeing GB much more than either of them had anticipated! Sometimes when she was homesick or needed a change of scenery he would carry her like he did all those years ago to new places. Her favorite was the swamp, especially when the sun was setting and the grass glowed gold. Occasionally they went back to where she had been abandoned. The territory overall was less dead now, and life thrived. Still, the woods where Mabh had found her remained eerie and devoid of life. Her pack had long since moved on, not like she wanted to see them again. Syn had found her family, and she wouldn't want to belong anywhere else. This little cookie dough changeling had found her forever home.
