Biography

It was a cool summer morning when Snakefang went into labour. It wasn't her first litter and she had Tansytail by her side coaxing her through the process. This litter, however, Snakefang knew there was something wrong. The sharpest pain she ever felt ripped through her pelvis and she wailed.
"I know, I know," Tansytail soothed. The young herbalist pressed a paw against her friend's flank urging the pups to come safely. The first 3 pups had come quickly and didn't give them much trouble, but the last two were what was causing Snakefang's pain. Tansytail's eyes widened in horror as she realized what was happening. The two pups were connected at the hip. Not only was Snakefang exhausted, but a wolf's body was not meant to pass two pups in the same breath.
"I don't want you to panic, but I need you to know that this birth is the rarest I've ever known. Your pups, these last two, are joined at the hip. The pain of delivering them is going to be excruciating, but you can, and you will make it through this," Tansytail said. "I'm going to assist your body this time, as you give one last push, I will also pull. It will be over faster than you know."
Snakefang shuddered as the words sunk in. But she knew she was strong, Tansytail was right, she would make it through this. She ground her teeth together and looked to Tansytail, who had the scruff of one pup in her teeth. Tansytail gave her a nod and Snakefang braced herself for the pain the would follow. In a quick breath pain ripped through her, so fierce her mind threatened to go dark, but Snakefang held on as she heard the mewling of her pups and knew the worst was past. She craned her neck to see the pups but it was Tansytail's expression that concerned her the most, her eyes were glazed and her maw was slightly open.
"These twins will live forever."
