Ysbryd y Nos - often called Ysbryd - is the first Blaenori of Pont-y-Rhedyn. She always appears before a death is imminent, and is believed to guide old souls from the presentworld back to the otherworld. It's hard to catch and speak with her - she's incredibly quiet. She's polite though, and will answer questions about the pack's history if asked. While to see her is to know that grief will follow, she is greatly revered by the pack. It is a comfort to many, to know that they won't have to make the final journey alone.

Ysbryd was brought to the pack as a young pup. Aderyn brought her back from a scouting mission - a gift from a neighbouring pack. Heuldys was not consulted on this, of course. Though exasperated, she granted the pup a name, Ysbryd y Nos, and placed her under Aderyn's care. She was raised alongside Aderyn's recent litter, most notably Rhondda. She grew to study as a herbalist under Eira, and became well respected in the craft. She was incredibly close with Rhondda, considering her to be a sister, and took up an advisory role as Rhondda became the pack's second leader.

From a young age, Ysbryd could see spririts. Not that she knew what they were. Shadows, she called them. Lingering around the aging bodies of the pack's elders. It wasn't until Aderyn died that she realised what she was seeing. She laid quiet with her sister, curled around their still mother, watching as the ghostly outline of her spirit sat at the entrance of their den. As dawn came, the spirit went quietly into the forest, leaving the pair with their grief. She didn't full grasp it, then, until Meurig passed. She approached the fading spirit. He'd always told the pups strange tales, of spirits and other worlds. She'd never given them much thought as a pup - just an old man's tales, they all said. Now she only hoped he might be able to tell her what she sees. Meurig was caught off guard at first, surprised to find one of the living speaking with him. He quickly recovered though, and invited Ysbryd to walk with him. The pair walked through the forest, past the boundary onto the raven's weald. He told her again, of the otherworld - where all come from, and to where all return. He lead her to a strange arch crafted of twisted branches and thorns, and told her this is where they must part. Upon passing under it, he vanished.

And so, Ysbryd took up a new post. Whenever a pack mate died and their spirits were left lingering, she'd guide them through the forests to the arch. She guided the founders, their first leader, her mentor. As the years went by and her peers began to age, it became apparent that Ysbryd wasn't. She remained young and spry, with no particular explanation as to why. She continued to guide, guiding her peers, until eventually she walked her sister Rhondda to the arch. She didn't return to the pack after that.

Ysbryd lives as an outskirter with Golau y Wawr. The pair are rumored to be pairbonded, though they won't confirm it. Either way, the pair seem inseparable. there is no life without death, after all.
