Shy // Quiet // Determined

It was quiet here. Solidified. Protected. Solemn. Varya was used to the quiet, but she enjoyed playing with the other pups when she could. It was a bit of a lonely life, but even at her young age she knew she was special. She was different. She'd met the Queen, but only once. Even then she could tell something was wrong. Why had she been examined so closely only to receive a small sniff of approval, while all of the other pups received little to no examination at all and a sharp nip to the ear?
Varya's mother seemed relieved yet solemn, and every time she played with the other pups she could feel her mother's gaze on her. She was too young to understand fully, but she sensed that once she left Raven Point she would never see any of the other pups again. None of them even had names. At least, no name to call them by. No name revealed out loud for others to hear. Not like her. She had a name. Why did none of them?

"Come along, now," Corwin urged, nudging the three pups forward. Varya felt a sense of unease and sadness coming off of the grown male as he guided them away from the safety of Raven Point. She could sense that he knew something was wrong, but he left all of that unspoken. The two pups that were with her still had not received a name of any kind. They were simply nameless puppies. No name, no one knowing of their existence except for those within Raven Point and the Queen. Wyvern had seemed a bit solemn this morning as she urged her pups to go with Corwin, and that alone spoke volumes to the young Varya. Something was definitely wrong. Where were they being taken?
Many hours later into the morning, Corwin brought the pups into a place called Sunrise Meadow. Right away, Varya could smell and hear other pups, along with other adults. Many more than what she was used to. "It's alright, go on." Corwin gently said, nudging her forward into the large clearing. She stumbled forward, looking back over her shoulder to see her two small companions whining and clambering to follow, but for some reason Corwin would not let them forward. Several of the other adults seemed to know something she didn't, and they kindly urged her towards them. Hesitantly, she trotted over to the group of adults, who instantly nudged her into a den full of more pups her age and older.
"Why can't my friends come too?" She asked, although something inside told her she knew the answer. The female laid down, resting her chin on her paws softly as she looked at Varya.
"They're going somewhere else," she answered, her voice sounding a bit sorrowful. "One day I will tell you everything, my dear. I promise." Varya's heart sank, but she simply nodded in silence. "My name is Aria. I'm going to be sort of like a new mother for you now. I was told your name was Varya. Welcome to Highridge, little one."
