Winona was found in the woods by a small pack of dogs that lived in a nearby abandoned shed. By then she had been weaned. When asked where her parents where, she replied that she didn't know, clearly distressed.
The dog pack that took her in was adamant in demanding that all of the pack members contributed, in one way or another, to the pack and its survival. Winona quickly switched between roles in an attempt to be useful enough in order to not get kicked out. Because of this, she was considered useful enough to barely stay within the pack, since she was an apt learner, but never focused too long on one role.
She was out hunting when she bumped into one of Vespertine Pack's hunting groups, Opposing Talons. She got into a scuffle with Terra, which resulted in the group restraining her. Orion then suggested that she should be taken back to Midnight instead of dealing with her themselves. This is how she joined the pack, becoming a pupsitter.
