Community Update #116

Posted 2023-11-04 16:33:22 (edited)
Hm it sounds like the real root of the frustration here isn't that Lioden is getting more updates, but rather that there's a lack of transparency regarding the distribution of assets between the two sites. From what I'm gathering, people feel like money spent on wolvden is going towards lioden instead of towards improving wolvden itself, yeah? I wonder if a stronger divide between the two websites, or more transparency regarding the separation of funding and work, might help?

Edit: though I do wonder how much Lioden is financially supporting wolvden - it is a MUCH larger site, after all

All that time spent focusing on events every month they could be focusing on making the game better in other ways, just my 10 pence worth. It would make the game less bloated and overwhelming and would also benefit in other ways, by focusing attention on other things that need be to fixed. Like the lag and bugs per say

I'm sorry our responses came off in a negative way, we were merely trying to express our concern for the future of a game we've all come to love. We did not mean for any hate to go towards the devs, we all appreciate the hard work they do. We care about this game and don't want to see it abandon, these news chats are good places to state our opinions, even if our emotions can get the better of us.
We all care a lot about this site, but would could just not understand the amount of work that goes into building wolvden up. I did not want to devalue or discredit the devs and those who work hard on this game in any way with my comment. I just wanted to share my thoughts and concerns for a game I enjoy putting time and resources into. I think more communication could help, so we could see the behind the scenes progress that's happening, but at its core this game is a place for people to enjoy themselves and because of that there are a lot of people who care about its future.

100% agree with @Nox a communication could be the best to clarify things and it's because I care the reason why I am speaking up.

Due all the respect darling @Ghost , the main root in here has been stated loud and clear ( plz re-read and take a moment to analyze your words just as many have.)  your comment says exactly what we are trying and already been stated even before than you and I.  R.I.Peace has stated along with the rest and me many good concerning points that needs to be put some thinking at least.

While I also agreed making this game big like LD isn't really the idea ,but more for them to also give us some love too eh?

But, at this point it truly feels they are putting more effort in LD than WD  ( I play LD and I know)  and the fact they post a "artist hiring"  in WD  asking for more LD artist truly triggers the doubts and you cant blame people for feeling such eager to express what they feel. That post already tells me they will work more in there than over here.  ( again, I read the post about the sides collaborating together AND I understand they did it with the intention to advertise it since it's their plataform and they do what they want. Also, they as well apologized for it and we understand too.)

●We aren't trying to separate the games.

●We aren't trying to create drama between LD and WD.

●We are saying our concerns.

●We mean no disrespect nor anger towards them.

●We aren't putting pressure on them neither.

This has been the most passive protest I've seen and i hope it stays that way. I will not feel bad for emphasizing what I feel and what it so far clearly happening. ( this like any opinions could change in any moment depending on the action the game developer takes.) My feelings aren't getting the best out of me neither, my rational side of me is and that's why I'm speaking up.

This will be my last answer and 0 drama my darlings.

It's almost as if a smaller sized website, if given more attention and care, would grow to be a bigger one. Even, if your claim about assets and time and effort being split evenly...if a growing game isn't given as much of a chance as an up and coming one, then it's not unreasonable of the players of said game to want to see the game they care about grow, and be given more attention than the already preexisting, established game. And that's not to mention the constant lag, poor connection (it's not a day in Wolvden without getting a 502 Bad Gateway, is it?) even though Wolvden has lower player numbers by quite a bit. Why doesn't Lioden have these issues, being once again, a sister site, though they have much more traffic?

Simply put it, it doesn't need any thinking to know that hiring a new artist to focus on Wolvden means...they'll be able to focus on Wolvden by hiring that artist. Wolvden needs attention from the developers to thrive and there is so much the, to be honest, extremely devoted player base can do. I don't understand why requesting an advertisement for a sister game that is better loved and has much more staying power - said advertisement is still up, by the way - is unreasonable. We do not have a roadmap, or any sort of communication really, given that the WDLDArtStatus account on Twitter barely posts. So forgive us if we use an ingame form of communication to express our multitudes of frustrations.

I will freely admit I have been nervous to speak out against my frustrations, despite me taking several breaks. But the voices of everyone else here and on the Game Development forums have emboldened me to do so, so thank you. Everyone here is bothering to type out a reply out of a passion for Wolvden, and wanting to see it grow to its full potential, because this website is really special.

The reply is a step in the right direction. I hope the mods and devs can continue to see the love for the game, and keep on taking these steps, and even begin to reciprocate the love.

Very well said, Kaisialy & Lira! I 100% agree with both of you. I don't think anyone is really trying to cause drama or issues, we just love Wolvden and care about the game and want to see progression with certain things.  I myself have spent more money then I'd like to admit, but part of me has gotten a bit hesitant to spend any more because it feels like that money is going towards LD.  I joined lioden just to see what it was like, and i was AMAZED at how much faster that website is compared to here.It feels like Wolvden is on the back burner, and seeing the ad for LD on this news post confirmed those feelings for myself, and alot of others I think.

I really hope things can get sorted out.. either way, it really is nice to be able to speak up about things that have caused growing concerns and frustrations.

Again, we do appreciate everything the devs have done for us here on WD so far, and we do love and care about the game otherwise I don't think we'd be here! <3

I will agree that it feels this site is getting less attention. Not that it is, but that it feels that way. Enclave and groups I thought would've been tackled ages ago. Things move so slowly here.
