You duck under the roots of the willow. A squirrel is darting there, too. You leap to catch them, but they just manage to escape your jaws. Oh well, it looks like they left something behind. Campbell Cat found x3 Massive Pinecone! You evade the roots swiftly, determined to find what lies behind this tree. A Lynx is determinedly sniffing around this place. What good is a Lynx doing here in the summer? You pounce on them, taking some bites but win the battle triumphantly anyways. You may as well take this with you, although it's too hot to be put to much use. Rae got x1 Lynx Pelt! As you enter the third willow's roots, the scent of puppyhood envelopes you warmly. You snuggle against the feathers eagerly, feeling reborn and young again. The scent begins to reawaken old memories you almost forgot about. You doze off for a moment and once you're awake you decide to take the feathers with you. Perhaps the mothers could use this in your den. Unidentified got x2 Nesting Material! Unidentified will be the next narrator since they've only gone once! |

A crackling noise. A branch snapped. Your ears pricked. There it was. You took off after it, and as you tailed the fluffy rabbit running for its life, it veered to the right and you skidded to a stop almost immediately. Why did you stop? You smelled something different now. Something… dark, dangerous. Your ears pinned back before you even realized, a growl building up in your throat as a sudden sense of prickling unease crept over you. Your lips curled back in a snarl, and you didn't pay the escaped rabbit any more attention. You kept low to the ground, spotting the source of the horrible feeling within minutes. Before you, planted just beyond the outskirts of the Riparian Woodlands, was… three tall towers. They looked to be manmade, built by those meddling humans. You kept a distance away as you circled them. The first tower was dark, black as obsidian with a barred gate and prongs shaped like arrowheads at the top to discourage climbing - not that climbing was your strong suit anyway. It radiated fear as opposed to danger as you'd expect, and an eerie copper glow was visible from within it, like a fiery maw ready to feast. The second tower was overgrown and all but fallen to ruin, with nasty thorned vines and moss creeping over it. It looked ready to collapse, but as a fox mistakenly slammed into it fleeing from a coyote, it was revealed that the tower was in fact structurally sound enough in its decrepit state. The third tower was pristine, a pale grey color with few visible signs of deterioration. It looked almost newly built, and the safest… if not for the vultures circling far above it. Were vultures even native to this part of the Woodlands? You shoved that thought aside, unsure you desired the answer. The tower inflicted no emotions nor instinctual feelings on you, but the sight of the vultures told you it was far from normal. Will you pick Tower 1, 2, or 3? |

The obsidian tower wouldn't have been your first option on a normal day, but your curiosity overpowered your logic, and you approached. While deciding how to enter past the dark gate, you took another hesitant step and they were pulled open, as if by some invisible force. You stepped inside, and almost immediately was taken aback by the orange ember glow - which became so suddenly overpowering that it blinded you temporarily. You shut your eyes in a hurry, flopping to the ground and covering your muzzle with your paws. Waking, you found yourself in a dark clearing, not the same you'd been in previously, lying across from a feather and some meat. Picking the items up in your jaws, you blink and feel a sudden overwhelming sense of vertigo, collapsing onto your side - in what was now green grass, the same clearing you started in. Rainydaysahead found Skua Feather, Small Bird Meat! (Tower 2: Overgrowth) You decide the second tower would be the safest compared to the obsidian spire and the other more-normal looking one with the vultures circling over it. You never believed in bad omens, but that last one struck you funny. You opted for the one with the overgrown vines and crumbling rocks, at least with the comfort that it appeared safe to enter. Still, you decided not to bump into or brush against the walls of the tower, regardless of how sturdy it seemed. You crept past the fallen door, finding that it was much larger on the inside than it appeared. You slunk through winding hallways and twisting old corridors, before eventually finding that they all led to one singular room. The room was surprisingly devoid of vines or moss, with little decay setting into the smooth carved bricks composing it. You stepped into the room without searching the shadows, and thus was caught off guard when you were tackled from behind. You hit the ground hard, knocked out cold on impact. When you came too, you were outside the room. Outside the tower, actually. You narrowed your eyes, shaking your disorientation off and standing. Taking a step back, you nearly tripped over a collection of objects gathered by your paws. Rae found Large Leaf x3, Lucky Foot! (Tower 3: Normalcy and Vultures) You stare with uncertainty at the strikingly intact tower, glancing once up at the vultures with a wary look. You closed your eyes and took a breath in, your tail lowering as you padded inside. The tower was blocked off by a wooden door - you'd learned that word recently from the woodland creatures. Door. It still sounded foreign in your mind, and likely worse than alien on your tongue. You shook the stray thought off and ventured into the tower, finding… it led straight into a hallway. One that seemed to go on forever. You kept walking, feeling as if you'd been walking way too have entered that same tower a moment ago. You glanced behind you and found… the same infinite hallway. The door you'd entered had vanished. You felt a spark of panic ignite, and turned back to the hallway you'd been traversing down. You tensed on your feet, then broke out into a dead sprint. You felt like you were running for moons, and you were so sure you'd passed by that same potted plant three times. You shut your eyes and kept running, straight ahead, but found… suddenly, you'd crashed hard into a tree. A—- wait, a tree? You startled, your eyes flying open as you found… you were outside the tower again, and… as you stepped closer you found that the door was locked shut. In your panic, you nearly tripped on an object or so lying on the ground in front of you. TabbyGirl found Porcupine Carcass, Bone! Rae will narrate next! Apologies, no wolves to offer. I'll have to update the rules, but I'll throw in a Wolf Skull and Wolf Tail as a consolation. :/ |
