The Bugbox Swarm - Let's talk about it

This post isn't specifically about the event. This is about the game as a whole. I do commend the bugs for how smoothly this event went and I think I speak for all of the other supports when I say we're not trying to punish the devs. Wanting balance and wanting them to spend their days staring at the bugbox waiting for a bug to be submitted are not the same. We expect bugs with updates, but we also wish bugs that AREN'T related to said update were forgotten about. |

Please, read Miso's comment — they pointed out, that lots of these active bugs aren't actually bugs (can relate, one of them is my stupid report that I did because I misread encounter outcome), are duplications or hanging "just in case" They aren't accumulating. |

Them focusing on issues that aren't working doesn't mean they won't also make new content. |

Take the poses for example. I actually really like how they've been handling the poses in the game. Do we have a plethora of adult poses? No, just 3. But the 3 we have have been updated with every non-CD decor, marking, eye, base, etc. There are a few bugs about misplaced or incorrect art, but they are quite rare because they're handled quickly and not left to sit. Therefore, I don't worry about something not showing up correctly when I put on a pose - I KNOW it'll work, and view the poses more positively as a result. I was so happy when they made Motherly into a buyable pose, because of all the work that went into making it as great as possible! I view bugs the same way. If there's more focus put on taking care of them rather than rushing out New Thing to keep people distracted until the next big event, then everything will run smoother in the long run. As for the bugs that aren't actually bugs, those could use some serious TLC and be purged from the bugbox for everyone's sake, especially the devs. That's not against this idea, if anything, it's in support of it. We still get an influx of new content from the Lunar events and the now 5 month-long events. Even if everything else stopped altogether (which isn't what the OG poster wants) then we'd still get plenty being pumped into the game. |

While yes, it may be pleasant to have these new and fresh updates appear, the bugs, critical or not, will still accumulate regardless. Be it they are actually bugs or not. In the span of closer to 4 years we have 1k+ outstanding bugs, be it they actually serve a purpose in fighting post-update brokenness or are one-off "didn't know this was an intended feature" It's either we get a chunk out now before it's really far gone and we have closer to 2-3k by the 5-year mark, or we start actually weaning down these "oops" reports and ones that actually do affect the site to lessen the number and lessen the workload. The devs are already under enough stress as is, maintaining two large breeding sim sites that just went through a server migration and have so much in store, but are pushing themselves in such an immense timeframe that everything isn't turning out how it should. A fair reference was the 3-Year Anniversary Roadmap (referencing the "Looking Forward" section here), with its intention of possibly 3 events released this year alone, on top of other things that were delayed since launch (which is in reference of Dev Update #25's Brief Roadmap). All we want is ease for the devs, not more stress. This would be at least the first, smallest stepping stone to provide an easier time for the devs and to show them we're not in a rush for brand-new content. And who knows, maybe the rare off-chance that the squashing of some bugs actually makes implementing new content easier in the long run? |

At the moment it feels like the bugs pile on too fast for the devs to handle, and that only gets worse when new features and events are released. I think Lily's idea of having a bug crushing period every other month until they're under control is great. The only way that'll happen though is if we make it clear we're ok with them prioritizing quality over quantity. One of the reasons bugs are building up so much nowadays is because the devs have been trying to push out new content for players. I think sending the message that we're happy to wait for events / features if it means they're more stable on release is important, especially since things being broken on launch seems to be one of the biggest complaints about the game these days. I love the idea of being able to mark your bug as a dupe or flag it for deletion if you realize it's not a bug. I think letting players tag their bugs as different types when they create the report is decent too, though I think some options could be complicated for players who don't use the bugbox often. Having a spelling error or art error tag or thread on the forums sounds like a good way to implement that idea since those are some of the more common bugs that get stuck in the system. Overall I think it's important that the game is given some added stability at this time, and I'm more than happy to wait for the devs to release new content if it means old bugs still plaguing the game get sorted. |

I love the fryer event I had so much fun but it was two month delayed do to bugs and still had a few major ones that severly effected game play. I personally thing giving the devs time to work out the old bugs would give them more time in the future to focus on new features or events. We just want to let the devs know it's okay that we don't get something new this month and just want them to have far less stress all together. we love this game and greatly appreciate all the hard work they do and they deserve down time too. |
